If only I had more space...!

It's a machine from the sixties. I remember seeing these machines at a trade show. My mother needed a new machine and looked at the twintubs, a sales woman tried to convince her it was THE thing to have. My mother, having a mind of her own, didn't like the twintub idea and didn't like the keyplates either. So she bought a Bosch frontloader with three dials.

Shipping Out of Germany

Am here to tell you, not that one assumes anyone was seriously considering it mind you, that there isn't a snowball chance in hell of that washing being shipped out of Germany.

It is too large and heavy for DHL post and would require going via freight if at all, and yes the cost would be very dear. Only possible way would be to find someone one (especially in the military) moving house stateside and see if they had space in one of their containers.

There are freight services that will shift large/heavy objects around Germany and other parts of the EU for a "reasonable" cost, but even there compared to what we see here on these shores, it is likely to be dear.

IIRC also anything leaving Germany is taxed just as things are entering. *Think* there are a number of small exclusions but then one has to have proper paperwork to prove age and so forth. Indeed so many American eBay sellers refuse to ship anything to Germany even when they do ship to the EU.

If you look carefully at many eBay Germany auctions for anything "large" you will see sellers most always never offer shipping. One has to go fetch the thing itself.
