This charming device was in my basement when I bought my house two years ago. Although it was amusing the first hundred times it tied my sheets in knots, I think I would enjoy a new machine, so I'm giving this one away. If you are enthusiastic about these washers, here's your big chance to get (another) one.

Here's some photos: picasaweb.google.com/10866284082...

In case you can't see the photo, the model is "WS" and the serial is "61EC 5985". It looks fine and works fine. The color could perhaps be described as bronchitis green. No rust.

I think someone who used to live in Oakland up until three weeks ago wants one of these.  He should have listened to me!

What sort of transmission does this WS have?

When I compare the front control panel to my 1972 and my 1978 the layout is different.

Is this because of the transmission, something like the WXP, WCDXN, and WXN washers?

Scanning youtube for a WS one reads
"This Jet-Action model has the fabrics selector which automatically chooses water temps, agitate and spin speed based on the type of fabric being washed."

Multi-speed?

Here's a enlargement of the panel

JWB

I might be interested in picking up this machine from you. However, I need to arrange for someone to pick up the washer and deliver to my home in San Francisco's Noe Valley. Is there a way to contact you?. Thanks Jim

No 1979 was not the last year of production - it was 1980 and December to be exact. WCI had a contract with GM until the end of 1980.

The irony is not lost on me, Ralph. :-)

Actually, there's an avocado one here from the early seventies with the glass-window lid, that I've been attempting to ignore. Besides, I still have the '63 Westinghouse to restore! ;-)

Definitely a sweet washer here!

And the reason a Frigidaire from this era is also one of my favorites!

And who can beat FREE????!!!!
