As much as I wish this would happen, I hate to say that I know it never will. Hotpoint don't exist anymore - at least not as we knew them. The problem with bringing back an old washer design, is that we've moved on since then in terms of energy efficiency, drum capacity and style. Nobody is going to want to buy a machine brand new that looks 30 years old and drains the hot water. Energy prices are currently higher than ever - its no longer affordable to run a hot and cold fill machine. I'm on metres for gas and electric and I certainly wouldn't want to. Plus, why would a working mother of 3,choose to buy a washing machine with a 4.5kg capacity when she can get 9 or 10kg machines? You have to remember that your average washer buying public don't care about the same things we do - they just want something that will make their clothes tumble around in water and then spin it out. So SA much as I would like this to happen, it won't.

I'm not talking about making them Hot and Cold fill and Small drums, I mean big drums, 7, 8 and 9kg and so on but the old style. Make it more modern but more energy effeciant. |

But Hotpoint don't exist anymore. Not properly. And what one person considers to be the true "hotpoint look" might not be the same as someone else's view. Aside from us enthusiasts, I wouldn't see a market at all for a revival of the old look. Regardless of that, I think Hotpoint are currently the UK 's biggest seller, so a petition really wouldn't make any difference. It's sales that matter to these big companies.

Thanks for the 'credit' for using OUR pictures, and thanks for asking us for permission to use the pictures.
Nothing just damned short of rude, stealing pictures and using them without asking let alone a curteous "thanks to XXXX I hope they dont mind me posting their pictures on this thread" Pictures they paid GOOD MONEY for to buy that brochure. Yet again your the rude one, dont even have the manners to say thanks. DISGUSTING. |

Rob, do you want Chris to have enough?
Or do you want him to go the same way that Tom did? And trust me, Tom liked to see the end of this site I tell you! Sorry if I'm being a pain but Chris is only young and myself and George in that effect! Anyway, it would be a good idea but with lots of modern day flaws. An anniversery special might catch on, remember Hotpoint turned 100 earlier this year! Jacob |

Well there are places you can get a retro 50-60's LOOK stove or fridge, but with todays conviences built in, frost free, pilotless ignition, ice maker, broiler, etc....
just so your retro, back in time kitchen, will look like that time period, but with todays features...... I would like to see the same available for washers and dryers.....just to fit the part, should your laundry be in the kitchen, or offset, but viewable! you don't want just the furniture, drapes and carpet to look victorian or colonial, but also everything in your house to fit the period, should that be your decor theme...... mind you there would be a steep price tag that goes along with this as well.... but everything should be made available should you wish it! |

Try the shoe on the other foot.
Ive had enough of snivelly little kids bombarding this site with drivel, pointless threads, one word answers to serious questions, bad manners, foul language, and not one word of thanks for STEALING images that are then re-posted here and used as profile pictures. Il stick by my words, I work a hard long week to earn my salary and buy brochures Aint got them manners I mention then dont bother with me. Il also ask you kids to stop requesting me a friend on Facebook, bombarding me with emails and youtube messagesand asking for advice cos you just aint getting it. Old fashioned phrases spring to mind makes me wonder if it ought to be the one about being seen and not heard. End of, |

This is my last post as well in this thread but all i went to had is for the older generation like me in my case thats use to using topload washers its hard having to get use to newer generation of washer like in my case i have grownup and in my home the washer was mostly a top load washer and from 1993 to 2004 use a top load washer so when i swtich to the washer model i have as a daily driver i can say that for me its hard getting use to using it but my point in this is that we all have diffrent taste or fav washers that we prefer so in my point i think that we should respect each other diffrent point of view and i also think that before using anyone elese pic ask the permission of the original poster first or try to google similar pictures. ok i am done and this was my 2 cents in this thread.

with all do respect, get off your high horse and pull your head out...
Stop picking on all these new members because at the end of the day, they like doing laundry, and they like different machines just like we do This is a forum for sharing pictures...and information about appliances, if someone uses a picture in a blog..so what? its just a picture of a washing machine...Rob you didn't design the brochure or take the photo of the washer in the brochure, so why should you say that its your image??? Please stop being so childish, and start being nice to members on this site, because I find you very rude and immature for a 27 year old who is pushing 30... Rant over!! |

I will be open for discussion with any of you when you go back and READ WHY and UNDERSTAND why I am upset about this.
Until then you know where I stand on the issue. You are all intelligent enough to work it out when you read it. Feel free to ask your parents to read it too and have them explain it. They will (hopefully) know all about going to work for hours and hours a week to pay bills and buy food to live. and how little is left to buy these things unless you work more hours. Hours taken away from your life for maybe 30 minutes of reading. As for unlimited threads, not the case, everytime a new thread is made and old one drops off the bottom of the list and is archived where it cannot be posted on. thus meaning a new thread has to be made if someone wishes to discuss that particular machine. That then makes it more difficult to find info when you need it, Thats all im saying on the matter. |

I might be off topic here but i would say that before using someone else 's picture it would be polite to ask the member if is picture can be use first or to at least put the name of the member in you post like my thanks and credit to "member name here" for this Picture. Or to put a link to the thread where the original picture is located. its like taking someone else 's creation or in this case pictures without asking. Thats all i have to say.

Rob, you don't own the rights to the image, you didn't photograph the washer in 1983 when the brochure was made, as you were born in 84 you weren't even born then, so therefore its not "your" image.
Sure you scanned the brochures but at the end of the day, you don't own the rights to the image!! you may own the brochure but its not your image, its property of Hotpoint!! SO PLEASE GET OVER YOURSELF!! |

Well "you youngsters" are the ones using the forum like an instant messaging service, trashing perfectly good washing machines, forcing machines to sudslock and get WAY too excited about it, arguing and swearing rather than actually participating in a discussion, using other's photo's without asking or crediting the relevant person. Respect is a 2 way thing, I'm afraid and you have to earn it. Everybody is born equal and you have to work to be respected. I'm not saying it's everybody doing the above either, before anybody says it, but I don't think some of "you youngsters" really think before you act a lot of the time.
FYI, I'm not much older than any of you but still have common sense and am fully aware of the respect that this forum and the people more experienced than myself on it deserve, even if I don't always agree with them. Rob spent his hard earned money on those brochures and has taken good care of them. He has also spent hours of his life when he could have been doing something else scanning those brochures in to be posted for the rest of us to see. I do think Rob over-reacted slightly, but he was still perfectly within his rights to say something. It wouldn't have taken 30 seconds to type "thanks very much to aquarius1984 for the scans" or something to that effect. |

Daniel, I wasn't accusing you personally of doing those things - I was just explaining why it gets so frustrating for some members on here. I don't for minute thing that every single washing machine enthusiast under the age of 18 would behave like that. Just pointing out that I can totally understand the frustration on BOTH sides.
