I am wondering about the differences in the Old Hotpoint& G.E. dishwasher motor/pump power.I have seen scans on here of old Hotpoint's and G.E. Pot-scrubber dishwasher Brochure that says it is 1/3 H.P. 5 Amp motor. The Pics of the pump and motor look just about the same on the tower wash G.E. and Hotpoint dishwasher's.Is that old black motor that has been on every old G.E./Hotpoint more powerful than the ones that are on there today?I thought that the old motors were a shaded pole type compared to the induction motors that are in there today.I have several G.E. pumps and the motors say 1.8 Amps and mine are made by Siemens.I know that the Maytag's Jetclean two motor was a 1/3 H.P motor and it draws 2.2 Amps.My G.E. is terrible at cleaning is to me the new pumps look more efficient than the ones with the drain divert-er integrated in it.The pump impellers don't look much different save for no grate for the disposer blade.Does somebody know the differences in the pump turbines or is the motor less powerful or is it just the amount of water that is being used today that good old ones?
