Beatty wringer washer

Hi boys , hope this is the correct way to add an eBay thread, if not my apologies .
Saw this on eBay , don't know anything about it but after a bit of googleing found it is Canadian.
Not sure if that will mean 110 volts.

Beatty washer

I would think someone would have changed the motor to 240 its simple enough to just pop a same rpm one and its then ok to use.. Won't be a heater or switchwork to change as it would have switched off at the wall I imagine.

I have a reference to Beatty's being sold here in the 1930s, so it is possible that it is 240v to begin with

I think you're right Al, quite a few American brand machines were either imported or built under licence before WWII. Looks like a 1930s model.

It could well be 240 volt, although when it was built the National Grid was in its infancy, and so the UK power supply was a mishmash of different voltages, frequencies and some supplies were DC - although if it was kept in use for long enough it would have been converted to to 240v 50 hz AC. I've had a couple of 50s Hoovers from the Bournemouth area that were built to run on 200 volts and subsequently modifed, and a 60s Hoover shampooer from Brighton that was made for 115 volts - not marked as modifed, so I was never brave enough to plug it in, even though it had a 13 amp plug on it!

what a darn good point, Ive never checked the V of collection appliances, always plugged them in after cleaning them up and a general inspection but I mostly assume they are 240v!

I wonder if our 119 which seems to run a little faster and makes a higher pitched noise to most other 119's is a lower voltage machine? It dosnt half eat belts even though they are not exactly tight on the pulley. Interesting!

The £1000 servis twin tub

Has any one noticed that it's now for sale again BUT with a different seller, the listing says it's in good working condition, I'm very tempted but it's such a long way to collect plus hiding it from washerphobe husband would be a problem. Best leave it alone eh.

The 3022 dryer...

Hi Christopher.

Thanks for the nudge, but already have this particular version of 3022 (assuming it is a 3022 and not a 3022A).

Where are all those good nick, full slate grey fascia versions?

Paul
