I have been searching high and low for any washing machine or dishwasher the is retro, antique or vintage but have not even found one. Anyone know who might have one or where i should go??? I tryed ebay - but no luck

You may want to keep an eye out on ebay and there are a few other internet sites for second hand goods. Look out for second hand appliance shops that sell reconditioned goods and you might even try an iron monger.
You could also try placing an add in your local paper.
The absence of basements is one reason why a lot of things end up in landfill. We also don't seem to have the kind of estate sales that are common in the US and the sheer size difference in our populations has much to do with the general lack of good vintage stuff.
In the States you can have your old appliances properly restored to new. Here just getting them serviced with spare parts is already a problem.

I saw a lovely late '60s or early '70s Simpson wringer in ulladulla on Monday...and 'bumped' into a machine bought by Leon before it was shipped to him when in Berry some time ago.
