Good Day everybody!
I have a Maytag A712 that is part of my collection. I was alerted one day to a smoke detector going off and the culprit was my A712. It was burning its belt. The pulley appears to be locked in one direction and although it spins without issue it will not agitate. I have a basic understanding of how the motor drives the transmission for agitate and spin. I was wondering if anyone here has opened up the transmission in one of these to fix a problem like this. I will likely find a used transmission or take one out of a machine I'd find on Craigslist. Just thought I'd consult with those who know.

My 806 did that years ago. It was a bearing in the trans that locked up.
