Hi everyone,

matchboxpaul, this'll be a surprise for you, I am now the proud owner of a Servis Sapphire 1300 Washer Dryer.

It's in very good nick & I bought it yesterday for £10 +£60 for collection/delivery. I will inform you all when it finally arrives with me.

I believe one of these were featured in thread 5369, my upcoming Servis is identical to that featured in that thread.

I'll copy the link for in for you to check out & a photo too.

Once I've got it there will be more in depth photos & eventually videos on YT.

Hope you like, I know I'm looking forward to getting it.

I will also recreate the control panel for you all like I've done previously with a Servis Quartz.

Wow!

Great stuff CJ! Allways have loved those old digital Servis machines.

One question, what was the first digital machine? X2000, computer controll logics/electrons or the quartz?

Sapphire

hooverzanmiele's profile picture
Hi All,

I've spent the evening recreating the Servis I've just bought.

Aquarius8000, I've no idea of the timeline to the models, all I know is that this Sapphire was a 1989 model.

Servisslimline, The machine's (allegedly) in working order, was uninstalled then put into storage upon a house move. This Servis is identical to that featured in thread 5369, however the points I'm trying to dechipher, is whether the drum is a chevron drum model, and which direction the door opens from - the left side or the right side. Any ideas??? There'll be more pics of it to come & videos too, once Dad & I've tested it.

This was an impulse buy, egged on by a friend, I checked with Dad, he gave me the green light to get it, the hidden note though, was I had to ditch one of my current machines, I've sold my Hotpoint Aquarius Ultima 1400 AutoWasher 9566 to a friend, to make way for the Servis. This'll make it to 04 Washer Dryers & 01 AutoWasher.

But here's the control panel of my soon to be Servis Sapphire Washer Dryer.

Quartz

hooverzanmiele's profile picture
Hi Darren,

What happened to your Quartz? It was that one with the NewWave & Logic in a garage wasn't it? SpinCare drum model? I think a friend of mine's Mum had one like yours.

Do you think this Sapphire'll be a chevron drum model?

It's due to be delivered on Tuesday between 13:30 & 15:30.

I promise there'll be more in depth photos of it on arrival other than my reconstruction shot & the auction pic.

By the way, I got the Logic Premier running, it turned out the water pressure at home was too strong for it, I reckon whatever might've caused the speed issue & subsequent water forcing from the machine, became righted on transit between home & the repair shop. I then found out, after 04 rounds of it blowing Grandma's house fuse, the module board was connecting with the suspension pillar - causing the fuse blowing. but it works perfectly now.

Dad & I're upgrading the garage utilities - plumbing & electrics, so hopefully by the end of the week I should have all four of my machines & Mum & Dad's Aqualtis connected up for full use, and with Winter on its way, I'll have 04 Washer Dryers to choose from to dry our laundry.

Talk again soon.

CJ

Sapphire's Arrived!

hooverzanmiele's profile picture
Hi everyone,

The Servis's arrived, it's now sat next to the Logic Premier, waiting to be positioned & plumbed in, as we've started upgrading the plumbing & electrics to cover all 05 machines, there's no water or electric in the garage.

Photos will be posted of it with the Logic Premier. Eventually videos too.

My username on YT is WD860, keep a look out for new vids of the Servis/Logic Premier on the go, I've got loads waiting for them both & the Zanussi too.

Thanks Paul,

Now all I'm waiting for is the completion of the refurbed plumbing arrangements in the garage, and for my other machines to positioned to their spots on the back wall.

Then I'll be able to test the Servis on a Rinse & Spin, then a short drying cycle, before I set it going on the Servis cycle wash (Service Cycle) to freshen/clean it, before it's ready for it's 1st proper wash, which I sorted earlier & have put into the drum ready, I've got three loads of cloth sheets ready for washing/drying, spread over my three Washer Dryers, which are, the Hoover Logic Premier (In one of above photos beside the Servis), the Servis, obviously & my Zanussi Jetsystem WJD1667W.

I'm dreading Winter meeting the Zanussi, may have a struggle with the dryer, like last year.

Videos'll follow, & a photo or two of all three of the Washer Dryers together.

CJ

Drum of the Servis.

Turns out it's a microhole drum, not a spincare or chevron, you'd've thought they'd've stuck with one drum design for all machine types of the specific model ranges.

Anyway here's a pic of the drum.

Hi supermaticjames,

Yes I will take a photo of it without the lid, my Dad & I're upgrading the garage utilities so I'll get Dad to spare a screwdriver to take the lid off for the phot when we move all the machines into their relevant spots.

I notice your Aunt had a Hotpoint Aquarius 1000 Washer Dryer WD22, my Grandma had an Indesit 850W, but when the bearings copped out, I put my foot down saying, "you need a new washer, Grandma" a few days before the final Indie issue, I'd seen a otpoint Aquarius 1000 Washer Dryer WD22 on sale in the local appliances repair shop in Armthorpe, for £180, I gave Grandma 02 choices, the Hotpoint for £180, or a Zanussi like my above one for about £450, she opted for the Hotpoint, at the time.

We had that machine for about 04 years, from the 03rd of Jan 2003 until October 2008, we passed it onto my Grandpa, as his laundry went missing on most occasions when it was at the launderette, during it's life with my family, we treated it well, the only issue we had was if it was unbalanced (indicated by a whining from the motor) it would usually blow the main house fuse when it ramped up.

Great machine, even for a 1000RPM spin, 1st time Grandma used it, she pulled the programme knob out to start it, but also did so with the dryer timer too, pulling the knob off the fascia. She learnt after that incident, & with me teaching her to use properly.

After my Grandpa passed, we put it into storage, I was going to have it ultimately, but Mum & Dad said I'd have to choose between the Zanussi I've now got & the Hotpoint, I chose the Zanussi, so Mum insisted we sell it on Ebay. The people who bought it came, not far from where I bought the Zanussi from, around the Pickering area of North Yorkshire.

Anyway, yes I'll take a few photos for you of the Servis without it's lid for you.

BTW, if you're interested, there're 02, maybe 03 short vids of Grandma's ex-Aquarius WD22 on my YouTube channel, my username is WD860, if you're interested & want to take a look.

I've added the link direct to my channel for you below.

Good machine you have there, the larger holes in the drum where used in order for a better transference of moist air from the inner to outer drum then into the condenser,

Hi Christopher.

Apologies for the silence since you got your machine, but have a lot going on at the moment - hence me catching a moment to catch up on all the threads.

Congratulations on your new acquisition, which looks in excellent condition.
I have been watching some of the videos you have posted and the machine sounds good too, equipped with its Hotpoint motor (dont worry though, this will be its original motor).

My grandma has a Sapphire Autowash 1300 though, can you believe, I have never seen it in action.
The first time I saw a similar Servis in action was with Mike Kings Electra 1300 washer dryer, about 6 months ago.
Have to say I think we were all a bit disappointed that its programming reflected the Hotpoint way of doing things, with its burst of 1300 for 20 seconds or so only...

BUT...

that doesnt stop them being great machines and I am really pleased that you have got one.

Keep on with the videos and have fun!
Paul

Hi,

You look to be having fun, that is a lovely machine. I hope you can get the lid off soon as I'm itching to see inside.
