On both panels you can see the the Clean Touch touch pads have cracked over time, but the control themselves work 100%. |

Tub pic. The corners of the lid need cleaning but I soon plan to get to that. |

From what i've seen on the manual. It goes to the lower speed the last 4 minutes of the wash for extra fabric care. I think all Whirlpool brand direct drives (with the exception of low models) did this. |

I just used an Inglis/Whirpool washer, for the first time today, with the same features and agitator. I don't get the reduced agitation, either? After 12 minutes of heavy agitation, what does the 4 minutes of reduced do? I also don't understand why the agitaor has all those vanes at the top? The water never gets that high.
I have a Kenmore with the dual action agitator. I would have to say, the Kenmore is much quieter, than the Inglis/Whirlpool. |

My Kenmore and my Whirlpool had the same agitator as this one did. I have always thought Kenmore was quieter as well. I am sure it is something do with how they do the quiet packs. I don't really understand that part either, because i never see any sound insulation. This Whirlpool is nicer than the one I had.
DD Dave - have you ever had to change the dog ears in the agitator on this? My mom's Kenmore had to have them changed about 3 or 4 times in the short 8 year time span of the washer. My Kenmore and Whirlpool that I owned never did. |

the step down is referred to as "Gentle Wash"......more of a SOAK than anything else, on a regular load, once the shift down, all wash action/rollover stops, even with the DA agitator........
the only reason for the top fins of the agitator is the SWIRL effect/look of the Surgilator I have never had one of these machines shred anything......and I washed good size loads......eventually I changed my DA, for the larger base version from a KitchenAid....turbulent rollover on high speed, and actual movement on gentle... |

in actuality, the larger base agitator was for any 2 or 3 speed agitation, as long as the 2 lowest ones were used for agitation, any speed for spin.......
I put this in any machine I use......even in high speed, although some argue about strain on the tranny, but never had that issue, but there is no difference between Kenmore, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, all the same underneath, one tranny for all... if you ever come across one, fill your machine with just water, and run the machine on high speed agitation, switching out the agitators back and forth.... you will be suprised at the tidal wave...... |

whirlcool: That's not the transmission, that is probably a problem with your motor or maybe your control board. yogitunes: that's pretty interesting to know. Is your KA agitator one of those cool green ones? |

Allen, the motor is 2-speed. The transmission has nothing to do with speeds, either agitation or spin. It's not a clutch system like GE. Speed is determined via the motor RPM. You have an electrical problem somewhere with getting power to the low-speed winding of the motor (or a bad motor), not a mechanical problem. |

ahh yeah, I have seen that vid many times! Now I know that is the top speed for a KitchenAid machine, but (just so i'm not confused) were you saying you also had this agitator performing with Whirlpool's top speed? |

YES.....actually I used it in a Kenmore Limited with a 3 speed.....always on the HeavyDuty cycle, fast wash and spin.....the smaller fin DAplus didn't seem to move the load the way I wanted it to......and on gentle, nothing moved, unless you loaded the machine 1/3 with clothes on a full water level....
in the newer models of Kenmores, Normal was medium speed with a fast spin....this agitator was perfect for that, and quieted the machine down to nothing.... |

I don't think they ever came in pink.........I just like the white on white on white.....seems so clean and crisp.......
MrEric has an added splash shield to his KitchenAid, transferred from a Calypso, a nice trim addition.....wonder if I can talk him into posting a pic of it.... not to mention he has the matching dryer with the oven door window, and interior light that comes on during use.......could not imagine this machine without it just wish these machines came with a top work light.... we like little upgrades.... Thanks DADoES for the part numbers, I may want to order a full white one for the heck of it..... |

Whatever you do keep these machines going. No DD Whirlpool/Kenmores are being made now. I've heard from several sources that the new PSC belt drive is not near as good. Besides great durability and wash performance the styling of these machines is timeless. These come from a great series of machines and are pretty near TOL(only the Whirlpool Imperial, Lady Kenmore, Kenmore LTD. and KitchenAid Superba had more options that I know of) in WP's lineup. This pic shows WP's top machine in 1986 the all Electronic Kenmore LTD. These were produced up through the late 90's

John, those thin twins are so much fun and versatile. The place where I stay in Pompano has them, so sturdy, many sets almost 10 years old and issue free.
How cool, Dave: first movie you've seen and first one I ever made. Wish I knew hoe to chop it up so I could put the Easy Spin section in Dick's or Pete's thread. What's your Youtube name so I can watch your WP movies? |

Nice videos Dave........but one question on the ejection pump......is your drain hose piped directly into it?........
I have a sewage ejector underground for the bathroom in the basement, of which the washers drain into that, but I MUST have a laundry tub and a filter screen on the drain hoses, as per the instructions, not so much about the lint, but any strings that may wrap around and jam the the impeller...... just worried for you, should you not be home, and this jams.....you would have a serious flood..... |

We did think about that. From what I saw on the box, it does NOT require screens. I myself did think exactly about what you had just said, but yeah, it hasnt had any problems. |

The turquoise agi helps me to get over the lack of my old A806, and the set is delightful and quiet and does a spectacular job. I only feel a little bit bat about the oven door not being in a place where it can be enjoyed, but I have plans... this set will move with me to my next home and I hope to be able to give them a spot where they can be seen.
Now, to find the washer a Superba control panel... |
