It's been a beautiful autumn here in the midwest this year, many are calling the best in decades. Along with the bountiful agricultural harvests, I've found a few appliances too.
First up is a KDI-58 dishwasher, this came from a friend of mine. It's in beautiful shape overall. It's been around a while, he dropped it off this summer, but I don't think I've shared it here yet. |

A few weeks ago, I saw this BOL Speed Queen on Craigslist and snapped up quick. A neighbor had this washer when I was a kid, I can still remember seeing it delivered. She didn't have a dryer, her husband was a dental student so she was grateful just to have a washer. I spent many a cycle standing over this machine, one of the few SQ's in our neighborhood.

Money shot - and a porcelain tub. I brought it home, wiped it down and hooked it up. The guy I bought it from had it still hooked up though it hadn't been used in a couple of years. He ran it through a test-cycle and it was still warm and moist when I went to look at it. It needs a bit of adjustment, belts, etc. but it runs great.

Earlier this week, I saw this dryer on Craigslist and picked it up today. I didn't really want an almond anything here, but this is the panel-match to my Whirlpool washer so I'll scavenge some parts from it and let the carcass go. It was a breeze to move as it has some DIY screws holding the lower panel in place - no worries of the gas valve getting away!

Looks like someone here in Wausau has the same model Kitchen Aid dw for sale, but in harvest gold. Not a bad price either if it's not just a parts donor. CLICK HERE TO GO TO polkanut's LINK on Wausau Craigslist |

I'm going to have to put Craigslist on parental block in my browser, look what popped up last night at 10 PM. A very nice Maytag 806. It needs damper pads, as I suspected when the seller told me it squeaked when spinning and advised that the belt might need some lube. Haven't run it yet, just brought it home this afternoon, but it appears to be very nice.

Ohhhh, I remember that SQ being in the window at Otasco, they also had a hamilton dryer from time to time but never a lot of anything. I too wondered if it is a banging solenoid machine? Very nice Autumn finds. alr |

The Speed Queen is a reversing motor - all domestic production after 1970'ish were. I have not opened even the front panel of this washer yet, I just know there's an invisible thread that when pulled by removing that panel will cause the entire mechanism to collapse into tiny metal shavings and it will never run again LOL.

Greg what nice finds I love solid tub Speed Qweens wash in them at the laundromat across the street in germentown years ago when my mom moved.
I would load up 6 or 7 and holler at my mom for starting them out of seqeance. because when rinse time came I would runfrom one to the other and it would drive me nuts. Love the solenods clanging when all on... But my mom never touched them again and left me alone, So I would start them 15 to 30 seconds apart in the row so no more frustration lol. Hey now you have a matching Whirlpool pair congrats. Darren k |
