I own a GE long vent dryer model #DLSR483EE1WW ser #RH794077A. I think we purchased it October 2005. This dryer has the blower that runs independently from the motor that turns the drum. We purchased one like this since the duct work for the dryer runs 30 feet to the outside of the house. It reduces drying times versus a using a tradional dryer.

My dryer has developed an annoying squeak coming from the back of the dryer. Today while drying towels it sounded like a puppy crying.

What could be causing it and is it easy to fix? Any advice would be very much appreciated! We can't afford a new dryer at the moment.

Thanks!
David

Drum Supports

More than likely, the drum supports are worn and need replacing.

Rear drum bearing kit Part # WE25M40. You might also need front drum glides..part #'s WE1M481 green glides and/or WE1M504 white drum glides.

How difficult is this to do?

I am use to working on 1970~1980's type Maytags. They were very simple to take apart and re-assemble. I have never took apart a GE dryer before.

Is it a difficult task to get to the drum bearings in the back of the machine?

Thanks for the info!

David
