Well, since I already have way too many projects ahead of me, I decided to tackle the first and easiest one...replacing the water valve on the Dispensall. The old valve was full of sediment, as the inlet screens were caked up and the "Cold" solenoid wasn't closing properly. Probably the reason whoever had it before got rid of it, which is OK with me!
So today, I took the old, yellowed water valve off (which, interestingly enough, was made by Singer...yes, the sewing machine and vacuum Singer), and put a nice, 100% operational blue valve in that I pulled from a 1987 Filter-Flo (and was probably a fairly recent replacement). It also had the "valve frame" so it made the repair that much quicker, though I did keep the old one after taking the valve off.
After checking that both solenoids were getting power, I hooked up the "Cold" side and started the fill. WOW, what an improvement that was! The incoming water was much stronger and faster, even on one side!
I had a few rags that I needed to wash, as well as a quilt I used to protect the already-scratched paint on the new Avocado find, which got pretty dirty, so I loaded it up to full capacity and added a significant amount of Roma to the load. It filled FAST, even up to the Extra Large level which I was using. The Ramp Activator is GREAT on extra-large loads and the turnover is incredible, but I did have to break out the FS twice because of near-oversudsing!
Didn't have my camera handy for this load, but I do have to wash a few blankets tomorrow (and get some pictures of the new find, hopefully in action), so I'll take pictures then!!
