A couple weeks ago I posted a craigslist ad for a bunch of stuff that this gentlemen was selling in southern CA. In the midst of the stuff was a wringer washer and a 54 Frigidaire Washer. Well I called up my good friend Kevin(revinKevin) and asked to take a look at it for me. So Kevin contacted the guy and set a time to go see the washer. Well he ended up getting the washer and taking it back to his house. Now I just have to go to Southern CA and pick it up. Kevin also took a video of it for me. Here is the link to the video. As you herad in the video the timer is siezed and also the cap is missing. Looks like a good project for me.
Thanks again Kevin. CLICK HERE TO GO TO countryford's LINK |

What a great washer Justin congrats ! I never knew any other top load washer in the US that spun at 1140 RPM's. Only the new HE washers of today has that abilty. And not as sturdy at that.
Kevin you are the best and a very nice man. I love the kid in you when your around washers you light up like a Christmas tree ! Justin wish you the best on the machine and restore.

Congratulations Justin and thanks to Kevin for rescuing another classic washer.
Looks like this shouldn't be to difficult to get fully going, A cousin of mine gave me the same model about 15 years ago and it has worked with just a few problems since. I ended installing the earlier timer from a WO-65 that has the two deep rinses but no overflow rinse and while not as much fun as watching the overflow rinse it does a much better job of rinsing while only using about two more gallons of water. Enjoy John. |

Congratulations Justin!! This was a great save!! I have seen timers for the WO-65's come up on eBay, so keep your eyes out... If you have to repair it, though, Midwest Timer in Benton Harbor, MI will probably be able to help you out.
Kevin, it is damn good thing you don't live near me... Hubby is already kinda wary of my 'Well, Phil and I are driving to....' announcements... LOL

You helped me grab that pristine 1961 GE combo, so it's no problem helping you with this!
This Unimatic had been sitting outside since June. When I got there was pretty dirty all over and had about 7 inches of water in it from the heavy rain we had a few days before. It was sitting in the dirt next to an O & M stove that was in decent, restorable condition.
As I was cleaning up this up I was thinking "It would be nice to keep in my collection..." but I already have a '55 Unimatic AND I am completely out of space! So here's my resolution for the new year... "NO MORE WASHERS & DRYERS!" (Yeah, let's see how long that lasts... LOL)
The guy actually had 2 wringers, the broken Kenmore wringer in the ad photo and a Speed Queen wringer. I would have liked to grab the agitator out of the KM wringer, but he said a guy was on his way to pick up both wringers and a bunch of other stuff.

Kevin gets my vote, as well! He's been so helpful with repair advice, etc. And of course his to-die-for collection I hope to visit in 2012. And Kevin, (and all you other guys out there), if you're ever in this neck of the (red)woods, stop by and check out my collection. There's always something here to wash...
