I hope that this would be the correct area since this is help needed for a Vintage Kenmore Washer/Dryer Combo. What I'm looking for is the Plastic Cover/Cap that goes over the opening on the Rear of the Drum, to cover the Drum tightening Bolt, where it attaches to the Drum Shaft.

I found a Metal Cap at Home Depot, that has the clip "Finger-Like" things to hold the Cap on the item, but I've not tried it as of yet, since I would really prefer to get the Plastic Cap, that is supposed to be used. If anyone has any or knows where I might be able to locate them, I would be very grateful, especially if anyone has a couple of them that I could buy, just in case my other Lady-K Combo might sometime ever need a replacement Cap as well.

Peace and Happy Combo Washing/Drying, Steve

I wonder if that is the same cap that goes over the the bolt on a dryer. They were used on (guessing) pre 1962 dryers. Maybe someone can tell us. It would make it much easier to find if they are the same.

Re: Metal or Plastic Cap:

Hi! Greg "fixerman" are you talking about the Metal or Plastic Cap that I wrote about? If I remember correctly, the earlier 1960's Wp/Kenmore Dryers might have had the Metal Cap, but I'm thinking that because of more Water being in the Drum of the Combo's during the Wash and Rinses, it would have to be the Plastic Cap, so it would last longer.

Steve
It seems to me I have seen both metal and plastic caps on the old KN/WP dryers. It's been a long time since I worked on one though so I can't be sure. Whats the model no. Have you tried Sears website to find it. Surprising what they still have for the old machines.

Re: Sears Web-Site:

Hi! Greg, since it is getting quite late for me, I will check over the weekend and certainly would be glad to let you know what I find out. It is quite possibly and hopeful that over the weekend, when others of the Club Members see the Thread Postings, they might also have some other ideas for both of us, who knows!!!

Thank you for your kindness and suggestions, I knew that at least one person might have some answers for sure...

Peace and Happy Combo Laundry Days, Steve

Unless the cap is made of stainless steel

I found a black plastic cap in an old Whirlpool dryer I have. Weather it is the correct one for yours, I don't know. What diameter is the hole it fits into?.
