Hello everyone. My Fiancee and I just bought a home from the 1920's that was renovated in the early to mid 1970's... New cabinets and a beautiful new Maytag WU600 series 3 dishwasher! With matching hardwood front panels, they sat so long they're back in style!

I read all the posts pertaining to these dishwashers before posting but I still want to say Hi and thank everyone for the wealth of info I found here before asking anything...

She looks almost new! No cuts on the coating on the racks or the tub, no buildup on the soap dispenser cup. She squeaked a bit when I opened her but some grease on the springs and hinges put a quick end to that.

She runs like a dream until a few drops of water escape from the lower corners. Then shortly before she switches to heat the dishes she dumps a few ounces of water out the bottom... I'll post a pic of the gasket in the follow up post. It looks to be malformed from sitting virtually unused for the past 30 years.

So do I need a new gasket?
Or is there anything I can lube, tighten or clean to help her seal better?

Hell if there's any preventative matnance that anyone can suggest I would appreciate it.

What a Time Capsule you have there. That Machine (and kitchen) are gorgious.

Love the Formica too. Someone around here has this model. They'll tell you what to do.

That is gorgeous! What an awesome find! I does look like you need a gasket. I wonder if you can find adhesive foam rubber to fit around that corner as a "work-around". Sweet, sweet, sweet!!!!!

EARLY MT RR DISHWASHER GASKET

That gasket looks fine [ it could have the mildew cleaned off ] , but if the DW leaks at the front corners the first thing to do is tighten the tension on the door lock assembly a little [ it is adjustable, get a copy of the repair manual to see exactly how ].  Also be sure that the DW is level, differently not slanted forward and check the machine at various times during the wash cycle to make sure that it is not foaming at all as this will cause almost any DW to leak a little, Good Luck with this classic DW.

PLEASE!

Do not mess with that kitchen! I would give my left whatever for it. (Boot, I mean--what were you thinking???) {that's directed to the long-term members, not you}

If I could find a similar WC400 (portable/convertible) in decent shape, I would so pounce on it.
