The ad says it's about 5 years old. I've never seen a Kenmore like this before. It also says it's the Oasis model. But the agitator looks like a mix-breed of the HE wash plate and a dual action corkscrew. Has anyone else seen one like this?

This is an agitator-model (swaps-out the wash impeller for an agitator and the software is modified accordingly) Oasis that uses F&P's SmartDrive motor mechanism. There also were agitator-model Whirlpool Cabrio units. I used a Cabrio once, sounds exactly like an F&P and operates very similarly. It may be a little older than 5 years. Serial number would reveal the true age. The Cabrio I used had a weird software glitch that caused the first spin to stop completely for a moment and then restart, which resulted in softener (in the agitator-mounted dispenser) to essentially be wasted and also tended to cause spotting on the clothes. I helped someone once with a new F&P that had the same problem, F&P replaced the controller board in that case after the problem was made clear to them. |

I had the pleasure of using one of these machines last night and I was very impressed! The machine I used was the Maytag version and, I don't know if the programming would be any different but, it was very clever and worked flawlessly! For modern topload agitator washers, this is probably my favorite machine! It holds a ton, is very quiet, very gentle, and turns things over very quickly! This being the first time I had ever used one, I put a little more in than I normally would (a Bobload) but it handled it like a champ!!! I definitely want one!
The only flaw I saw in this machine was from the way it was installed. Whoever installed it decided to shove the drain hose a good 2.5 feet down the standpipe which put the end of the hose past the grease trap. This caused the machine to complain about long fills during the rinse on the super size load setting because a siphon was established during fill so it was constantly draining water out at the same time. I corrected this problem though! CLICK HERE TO GO TO Pulsator's LINK |
