I was just wondering if any of you know how tehe GE rainshower rinse works? Wondered if it was anything like the cheap Roper thread that has been discussed.

I saw a youtube video of it.. From what I could see, all that happens is that the tub rotates slowly and water just pours out of an opening, like rain.

Supposedly, it's a way to save water on the rinses, but that can be defeated somewhat by using the fabric softener option.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of these kind of machines. Seeing the washplate grate up against the clothing without any water almost makes me sick.

It's a bit of a different concept than the Roper/Estate machines because at least this way, the clothing actually may get wet, as opposed to just that extremely low water level with a conventional agitator.

I would like to see a video of one of these washers with a full load of something hefty like jeans or just with lots of clothing loaded up to the top.

Fisher & Paykel has had rainshower rinsing in their agitator top loaders for many years. For the time that I had one, it performed quite well. Although, the ramp up to wicked fast spin speeds between sprays helped a lot.

rainshower rinse

I have a GE washer , model WHRE5550K2WW . When set for shower rinse the tub turns slowly ,sprays water and drains at the same time for about one minute. Then tub is still ,drains then spins. It does this two more times then completes the final spin.It seems to rinse just fine.It gives you a choice of shower rinse or softener
rinse where the tub fills with water.

Does the rinse water actually go THROUGH the clothing, or does it just run off the surface of the clothing to the bottom of the tub?

I guess that would depend on the fabrics you are washing. I would hazard a guess that the rain shower rinse would only work well with certain kinds of fabrics.

For example, I couldn't see it working well on loads like lots of denim jeans, canvas or even some synthetics. I could see it working very well on knitted fabrics, wools, etc.

I would prefer rainshower rinsing to thrashing in a half tub of water.

I agree.. Less wear and tear on the clothing...

Kind of gives me a sick feeling to see clothing rinsed in a half a tub of water with the agitator grinding against the clothing.

The water makes it all the way thru to the bottom even with a big load.Even when using bleach its rinses very good.
