The drainvalve on my 49 bendix wont hold the water in the machine. As the machine washes water slowly comes out the drainhose.I have had the pump cover off and inspected the plunger and cant see why this is happening other than it being 60 plus years old.I even cleaned some crud off the plunger but it still leaks and its making me crazy.I know some members have this machine and its a total mystery to me how they got theirs to work. There is also water leaking out the other end of the plunger.Any help would be greatly appreciated,I was up all last night trying to fix it.

drainvalve

I adjusted the tension on the return spring again and put everything back together again and tried running the machine with really hot water to soften up all the rubber parts and this time it worked pretty well leaking only a small amount and hopefully as I run it everything will just break in.I forgot that this machine has not been run in 40 plus years. Most importantly of all I got to see a boltdown bendix running for the first time in my life. This makes up for the time when I was ten and there were 4 bendixes at the Winchester dump one Saturday and my father wouldnt let me take one home because i was too young or some foolishness and all the times since then I have run into these machines in pieces on the street and at the dump.
