I found these on a parts site .They made metal centers to make them better ,I fixed several of these in the past years that split at the hub.
The motor & pump removal is just like removing the distributor cap on older cars using the same type of clips; how interesting

These have been out for a few years now. The coupler still can crack around the metal. It's better than before but not foolproof. They can also break when being tapped onto the shafts of the motor & tranny.

you can get "heavy duty" rubber too....reinforced with nylon/steel cable like in a tire....

I find they work for heavy use, and hold up a lot longer.....

The only downside of these reinforced couplers though is that if something were to go wrong, like always overloading or something, the next point of failure could be the motor or the transmission.

DD DRIVE CUPPLINGS

The DCings are not designed to break under stress to protect the transmission, and if something breaks in the transmission while it is running and jams the transmission [ very unlikely ] the transmission is ruined and needs replacement anyway.

the WP-KN DD couplers are sort of like Lovejoy couplers-The Lovejoys are used in some of our transmitters for tuning drives-Thank goodness the rubber "spider" WILL break to protect the motor and tune component-these parts are NLA and thank goodness the coupler will act as a mechanical "fuse" to protect motors and tune components.Gearmotors turn these parts and the gearmotor has a lot of torque. In other transmitter we have the tune drives are turned by cogbelts-if you hear the belt "thumping" STOP-a component is seized-like a vacuum tune capacitor plates are welded together.(shorted).sometimes this condition will wear the teeth off the belt.Again better a belt than an expensive tuning coil(variometer)
