Hello again, Fredrik-

There's no way of knowing, really..

Hoover never sold a front loading machine in the US, to the best of my knowledge.

The only Hoover washers sold here were the twin-tubs, and in the early 1970s, a rebadged (built for Hoover) Blackstone top-loader.

Yes, the slant front Westinghouse does indeed look a little bit like the Keymatic. However, the slant front Westinghouse design dates from the 1940s :)

Fredrik, even though the Westinghouse slant front washer was introduced to the market in the late 1940s, this model in the picture dates from the very early 1960s and was about the last before the Westinghouse straight front washers and dryers appeared in 1963 or 64.

It makes perfect sense: When I was little, if I didn't speak clearly, my Dad would say "You're talking like you've got a mouth full of change!"

Apparantly this woman keeps the change her Westy hurls at her in her mouth!

I was thinking, when I saw that advert, that it was probably counterproductive. The woman looks like she's just gotten a fright, and it's not clear which direction the coins are flowing. It also suggests she forgot to clean the change out of the pockets before putting them in the washer, which is something most people won't admit to because it's a mistake or sloppy.

A better way to do that would be to have a pile of obviously clean clothes in the picture, and the woman holding up an obviously newly-washed dollar bill, and say something like, "it's like finding money in every load."
