Hi everyone! Happy Saturday - I'm sure you're all washing away today - my GE is Filter- Flo-ing away in the background as I type. :-)
I was wondering - do any of you have any of these older Hotpoint models? I don't recall seeing may of them on here or many people finding any either. I saw one in person ONCE in an old house in Brooklyn about 6 years ago. Nice harvest gold model and it did work, though it wasn't being used. It was an old house a friend of mine was renting a room in - he did't use the washer in the basement as it was so old he said it intimidated him. I could understand since those machines DO look pretty complicated compared to the dumbed down top loaders we are used to seeing today. I was just wondering if any of you had any of these old Hotpoints and if you could put up some pics. I think I'd like to try and find one when I get back east. I have a few things on my list. I have 3 GE washers and no dryers. I'd like to find at least one Americana Dryer with the Big Door and maybe a Versatronic to match my older GE. Ok - hope to see some fun pics... Matthew |

A lot of Hotpoint washer ads scattered about in the vintage appliance threads:

It makes me wonder how much water this machine used on a the two wash, two rinse cycle. Since this is a 16 lb machine, I'm hazarding a guess of about 280 litres? |

My grandmother had a matching Hotpoint set when I was really young. My guess is that they were from the late 60's. And I LOVED them!! As I was very young, I do not ever recall seeing it wash. I do remember the controls, that green agitator, and I can still hear it washing away in the basement. It certainly was not quiet. I remember the day it died in 1984, just like it was yesterday. I was just excited because she was getting a new washer. If only I could have known..... The washer is definitely on my wish list. :)

Sorry for posting twice. My computer stalled when I pressed the icon to post, so I pressed it again not realizing that it worked the first time. |
