But as one has neither the space nor know-how to deal with a vintage Bendix washer/dryer will pass. Spied what could be some *older* laundry products but have been there and done that too many times. *LOL*
Am surprised the family or anyone else close to them didn't try to sell the *Caddy* either before owner's demise or whatever. Hope a collector steps in otherwise fear it will be snapped up by scrappers. Regarding the condition of the place I'd wear deep boots and becareful when one trod should anyone go; the place looks a mess especially the laundry and garage area. The weather this weekend is supposed to be beautiful, indeed quite nice for a drive into the country; however it is also *Super Bowl* time and getting most men any where beyond a television is going to be difficult at best. |

I was thinking, how in the world would you get that train set up out of there without destroying it? That would make any boy's eyes light up! |

Same way it was put there but in reverse; that is the thing would have to be dismantled and packed. It would be tedious work but much of the set-up can be taken apart into bits or subsections. Providing away was found to secure any loose objects parts could be taken out "flat" and loaded into a truck or something with equally large cargo space. This though would depend upon if it's possible to get such sections out of the house via doors or maybe the garage.
As we here have our tricks to shift appliances toy RR buffs have theirs and a collector with serious interest shouldn't have any problem moving that set-up. The only problem would be how much time the sellers are willing to allot for the taking down and packing. Then there is of course how does the new owner protect his "investment" between the time the deal is closed until he can shift the lot/take possession. |

Ridgewood isn't that far from NYC, just a quick trip over the GWB then onto the Garden State to the TP), but still aren't planning on going. Didn't make an appointment for a tetnaus booster! *LOL*
Someone really needs to go and scope out the Bendix, Maytags and that ride along lawn mower. Seems great potential for someone who knows what they are doing to purchase and sell things along. |

Was able to get there this weekend, briefly. Scored a nice KitchenAid 3b.
There is an early Maytag in the basement, two speed, small cap, black agi with the turquoise cup. Matching electric dryer. The Bendix is priced at $300 and was upstairs in the kitchen. I found one of its knobs on the kitchen table and reunited them. Interior is stuffed with papers and old bags. Hassock fan has a dead motor. House is a mess, but very cool nevertheless. |

Oh well, call it what it tis, being noisy! *LOL*
House has an appraised value of nearly $700K (go figure, must be the area). Last owner was a Ms. Foote and one seemed rather shocked and sad that given there were children (evidenced by all the infant and children items in the home not to mention pictures), so much was simply left to "rot" and or be sold off by the family. Guess no one could be bothered. MisterEric: Good score on the Kitchenaid. Did you snag anything else (detergents, etc...)? Was the sale crowded? Imagine with "The Game" on Sunday attendance must have been light. |

Well yes, all the "bedroom" communites are priced dear due to their being a close commute from NYC. Oh and the *new* rail station/line near Ridgewood has helped make the area even more desirable as well.
Really wonder what the last days/years of the previous owner was like in that house. Clearly little if any major housework was done, judging by the pictures of course. Some of the children's rooms looked as if they hadn't seen a damp cloth in ages. Wonder if lots of the crowd was made up of local area residents. Both Saturday and Sunday were very nice days weather wise. Did the rail set and or it's parts go? |

Depends on who and when and where. Doesn't seem like a good motive for collecting, but people make a business out of it everyday. But to end up with something just becasue it will be worth a lot of money when you're talking about washers... Plus then you have to find parts to repair and someone to do the repairs. A $2000 broken Bendix isn't worth much.
Out of curiosity, what's your angle? This is much closer than the machine you pursued here, is there a particular Bendix you are looking for? -Tim |

Long before the Bendix or Maytag pair for that matter and for more money as well.
If anything the Maytag set *may* go to another loving home, but highly doubt anyone outside of those of us in the know and scrappers are going to bother with that Bendix. The former would probably restore for personal use and or take for spare parts, whilst the later just wants, well you know. |
