In all my musings on how Cascade used to smell, back when it was chlorinated, cleaned dishes, and didn't come in flavors like "Hot Thai Orchid Sunshine," it never occurred to me that it had a "fresh, pine scent."

Pine?

When I started to use Cascade........

back in 1973, its scent could be considered slightly piney, or at least "outdoors." I found it inoffensive, but puzzling.

Why not a food scent? However, the ways of Profit & Gain are most inexplicable.

was it really "safe" for china and silver back then? I thought with bleach it would ruin silver and goal leaf and ruin silver flatware?

Bleach in DW detergent

A little bleach in detergent will not hurt gold or silver, most water in this country has chlorine in the water supply to begin with.

Something that this ad made me curious: when did Cascade start using green colored boxes? As far back as I can remember (80s, possibly even into the 70s), Cascade had some sort of green. Yet this ad shows a yellow box.
