Chris-

COOL! I'm sure you will have it sparkling and running like a clock in no time.

Is this one gas or electric?

Looks like an interesting find Chris. Sorry about the "pool"! You are going to be busy on this dryer for a while. Terry

gas or electric

Filtrator dryers are always electric

Mouse poo can contain potentially-fatal hanta virus, which you can catch by inhaling mouse poo dust.

What to do about it: Get a spray-bottle and fill with a mixture of detergent and water, and spray the mouse poo thoroughly to prevent dust; then wipe it up with paper towels and toss them in the trash.

If you've already vacuumed up the stuff and not gotten sick within a few days, then probably your mouse poo was merely icky rather than dangerous.

Anyway... good find; will be interesting to see what you do with this one to get it fully resurrected.

Chris, are you going to take the cabinet apart and have it painted like you've done with other machines?

If so, I have questions, so email me please!

Steve

What is the big thing about Filtrators being especially good for towels and cottons? Do they get unusually hot or something? Is it the condenser process? I'm curious.

You are so right Chris, nothing like towels fresh out of the Flitrator. Puts such a nice scent into the room as well while it's running. Terry

Chris, you can get some wonderful fiberglas insulation in easy to work with sheets at a local insulation supply house. The bearing is an easy fix and from there, you're home free - back to filtrating in no time. Congrats on the find, an estate sale?

thanks guys

christfr's profile picture
well i have the sides and front back on. redid the insulation so that nasty part is all done..the rollers and back brg are in good shape so that part is ok..work on the top tomorrow..this one is just the same as the 54 filtrator i did a few years back, but the 54 was just dirty and had bad wiring. this 55 has bad wires along with some surface rust on the bottom..guess damp basement and mouse pee..icky

Oh Chris, the your machine will be so nice once done. The mouse peee and pooops did not cause anything. You are a hoot. Thanks for the humor. Glad it is coming along.

WooHoo! We had a wash-in once with some friends of mine when some of the club guys were here and one friend brought over some old towels she was giving away to someone she knew and just wanted them freshened up a bit. We washed them in a unimatic Frigidaire and dried them in a Filtrator. She called the next day to say that she didn't want to give away the towels after their trip through the Frigidaires, they were soft and fluffy like new again. Everyone needs a Filtrator and some kind of pulsator washer - best towels ever!
