What years did Caloric sell washing machines and who built them for Caloric?

Thanks!
Kevin

What happened to the appliance guy that's usually in these pics? Suddenly there is this unusual "Caloric" washer and the Hank the appliance guy is missing. What are these kids up to and what's in the washer?! Maybe it's going to need the cleaning power of Tide...

I looks like a Hotpoint machine from the general shape, but what do I know...

"long stroke agitation" That's sounding like a Beam design (though the 212 degree agitator stroke was more advertising hype than actual reality) Beam made either the whole machine or supplied many of the parts for other makers; Speed Queen, early Hotpoint, Coronado, Western Auto and many others.

Never knew Caloric made washers, either...

Technically, they probably didn't, but they marketed another manufacturer's machine under their name. This is probably a similar situation to the non-spinning gas combo marketed under three names: One Minute, Automatic Washer Company and O'K&M. Both One Minute and Automatic made wringer washers and O'K&M made stoves. In the early days of automatic washers everybody tried to have one under their own name. By 1960, it would be that way with portable dishwashers and D&M would spread its legs for anyone who wanted to sell a machine under their name.

I have a Coronado service supplement with a drawing showing the spinning part of the fluid drive mechanism so it is definitely a part of the Beam family as Greg said.

Today's POD (2/26/12). Who knew Caloric made a gas clothes dryer?

I have a Caloric gas grill. Beautiful porcelain avacado lid but needs a new burner. My grandmother bought it from the local Suburban Propane for us many years ago. Somewhere I still have the owners manual with pictures of it.

Tim, I remember the green lid on that grill. I have two portable Caloric "picnic" grills with the stainless steel mesh Micro Ray burner in the top. There is a loop on the back to hold a tank of propane, like you would use with a torch. They are orange and black porcelain and beautifully made.

Michael, our Atlanta Gas Light Company sold them. In the window of the downtown store, they had one tumbling 24/7. Wish I had gone in and asked if it had a broken timer. It was an awfully-styled thing. I wonder if the washer and dryer were offered simultaneously.
