I hope he loves them. Unfortunately, appliances do not appreciate quite like money used to do when deposited in a bank so I doubt if the seller is going to receive his asking price. |

UGH! What the heck. Gorgeous set. Maybe a little high? But How often will you come across this? |

I soooo want that Fridge, or a big Frigidaire of 57-63 vintage, in turquoise, pink, yellow, or copper!
You just never know, some nut with more $$$ than brains may decide they just HAVE to have that set. It happens more often than we wish, I know it happens with cars all the time. Maybe Barrett-Jackson should start auctioning appliances! |

Seller would probably do better splitting them up. Would be a lightning strike to find someone that wants built in appliances (and that pretty sink) AND refrigerator AND washer & dryer all at once. My experience with oh-so-pretty built in appliances was there is a very, very narrow market for them and unless you have the holes cut for them, the prospect of remodeling around something like that is slim to none.

Those early Frigidaire boxes were far from trouble free. They had temperature control issues like freezing fresh food if the freezer temperature control was set to keep it at zero. |

I'm pretty sure these have been for sale before. I have pics I saved from an eBay ad that show all these same pieces. I remember wonderingwhy they had Maytag laundry with all Frigidaire appliances. Maybe they figured they would gain value, like fine wine..... |

I have not seen a single one of these in the last 15+ years that was operating properly, yes many were running and they were cold. But the refrigerator section was usually too cold, the freezer not cold enough and they often had defrost problems and frozen refrigerator drains, and most of them ran darn near all the time if the room temperature was approaching 80 degrees.
As Tom can attest both my brother Jeff and I spent a lot of energy trying to save a few of these beauties, NEVER AGAIN. |

If the dishwasher and refrigerator were more reasonably priced, I'd be interested in them! I'd really like a dishwasher like this. And I also like the 15 cu ft 1962 Frigidaire refrigerators.
John, I know what you're talikng about. I have seen Frigidaires with melted freezer sections, and some with tired refrigerating systems which can cause a lot of problems in these! But believe me, my 16 cu.ft. 1963 Imperial refrigerator is still in good working condition! The compressor cycles normally, it works for less than two hours after the defrost cycle, drops the freezer temp to about -5° and then it cycles normally for the remaining 10 hours before the next defrost period. The refrigerator section keeps food steadily around 38-42°F and around 32-33° in the meat drawer.
The original compressor isn't noisy and I didn't have any issues with it other than replacing it's 5 interior lights!
1962 Frigidaire refrigerators are a bit different since they have two airflow fans and a cold plate in their refrigerator section. When their compressor cycles normally, they are fine but when the compressor can't drop the freezer temp enough to stop, then the refrigerator section becomes too cold and there's not enough time for the cold plate to defrost (non-heated defrost). I have a '61 in which the rotary compressor was replaced with a piston compressor but it works well too. (and my 4 Frigidaire refrigerators are in constant service, even if I don't need them!).
These fridges also work better with their original defrost timers than with newer replacement timers. In another (1964) Frigidaire fridge I have, the defrost timer was replaced with a 6 hour / 21 minutes timer while the original ones are 12 hours 32 minutes but they have a feature that allows the compressor to start immediately after the defrost limiter opens, about 10-12 minutes after the beginning of the defrost period. So instead of defrost 84 minutes per day (with the heater on for about 40-48 minutes and no compressor operation for the remaining time), they defrost just about 20-24 minutes per day. I was able to find a few correct NOS defrost timers with 5 terminals for my fridges and I replaced the 6 hour 21 minutes timer with one of them.
I just took a picture of the thermometer showing temperatures in the different sections of my 1963 Frigidaire Imperial Frost-Proof refrigerator. Room temperature wasn't 80° today (ref 71.6 on the thermometer was the room temperature) but it works well in summer too!
