Over time, I've read about many different laundry appliances apparently made by Beam. For example, Speed Queen and Hotpoint, which are very different from each other. How are a group of differently-built appliances all made by Beam, the same company? I thought Speed Queen was made by McGraw & Edison. Do they, perhaps, share the same transmission?

McGraw Edison did not own Speed Queen until 1957

and as for your question about Beam private branding for a lot of different makes If I am not mistaken even though the control consoles and maybe even the cabinets of the various brands might have been different from one another the mechanicals were all pretty much the same. Beams biggest advertising point was it's Fluid Drive which was designed to help bring the solid wash tub up to speed with water in it without placing any undo strain on the mechanism. Besides Hotpoint and Speed Queen if I am not mistaken Beam also private branded for Coronado, Wizard, Zenith, One Minute, Automatic, AMC (not the car company that AMC's appliances were Kelvinator/Leonard/Duracrest) and maybe some others. Of course if I am wrong about any of this someone please let me know...PAT COFFEY

That clears it a bit...

Thanks for the info, Pat. From what I gather, Beam makes the tranny, with the fluid drive and cycles changed by the loud "clunck" solenoids. So likely, the separate makes built the rest of the machines their own style containing the Beam mechanics (if I'm correct).

Thanks,
Gary

Just getting into BEAM here

I already LOVE the technology! They built a solid machine! Greg & Robert have tried to keep it from me all these years- but all attempts failed last summer when I snagged my third EASY product from right out from under their noses!
