I saw these new GE's today for the first time and they look oh so similar to the LG's except that the machine itself is taller, not so much crouching over to load/unload, without pedestals even. The ads in the paper are touting it as the "only" full sized true horizontal axis washer. Is that true, from all the other machines it appears to be.
Noticed as well that in Future shop anyways, where I saw the GE, there is hardly a top loader left being sold.
Oh, the price.. $1200 Cdn. ($950 USD) for the washer, I wonder why it's that high if it's selling in the US for $799 ?

Who makes this GE

Does GE make this new FL washer or does someone else make it for them, like LG or Samsung.

The GE is made in China. Probably in partnership with a Chinese factory. I have heard that some parts are made by the "Little Swan" washing machine manufacturing company in China.

GE Front Loaders

I saw some GE Adoras advertised at Home Depot this weekend. Are these the same washers, or a more MOL line? They always appear "cross-eyed" when placed side-by-side. Pretty odd appearance.

Tonight I picked up a neat little brochure from GE about the Adora line. The brochure itself is round (like the front door of the Adora) and has some pretty good advert info inside. If nobody else has seen it and if there is interest I can scan it in and post it when I get back home.

Where machines are made.

I am not sure that the new GE Front Load WBVH6240F washer is made in China. I was as Lowes in NY today and the matching DBVH512E/GF dryer has a "made in Canada" sticker. The washer had no information as to where it was made. Here is what I found from looking in washing machines today:
Whirlpool Duet and the similar model-Kenmore-Kitchen aid front loaders (3.8 CU FT) are made in Germany. Bosch and Siemens (German corporations) make their front loader Nexxt and Axxis (3.7 CU FT) machines in USA. Sounds crazy already right? Frigidaire model LGTF2940ES (3.5 CU FT) is made in the US in Georgia. Maytag model MAH8700A is their new (3.81 CU.FT) front loader and is made in, are you ready, Korea. Speculation is that this model is made by Samsung. I doubt it is made my LG, which is Gold Star (Luck Gold Star = LG). The original Neptune model (MAH7500 and similar models) that were part of the class action suit against Maytag for mold and mildew problems, are a completely different design. How awful is Maytag’s marketing team to keep the "Neptune" name on a newly designed model. Why didn’t they call this model "Saturn". Wait, maybe not! Anyway, Maytag and it’s subsidiary brands ( Hoover, Jenn-Air, Amana) are in the process of being bought by Whirlpool corporation. I need a score card. From what I have read at Epinions.com, there are issues and mechanical problem with everyone of these machines. If I were to buy one of these today, I would choose between the Maytag MAH8700 and the KitchenAid KHWS02RWH with the inclination to the Maytag.

For those interested, here is the link to the Maytag class action suit:

Check the washer on the right side panel, towards the lower end. It will clearly say "Made In China" on it.

GE owns a Chinese appliance factory where they manufacture their new front loader.there is currently one model out that is being made differntly according to the caryer,i.e The Home Depot, Lowes, Best Buy.The model numbers differ as well as a few settings on the dial but they do not differ in any other way AND Ge is planning on introducing a more DeLuxe,full-featured set by this summer.
