she is indeed lovely. Thanks for the blast, Paul, and were I closer, by gum, who knows what might have happened. But it's a long way to Tipperary, 'er, Falmouth, the usual scenario when a desirable machine pops up it seems.
Actually, I could be just as happy finding a nice set of coppertone panels for my KDC-17, it would duplicate exactly the one bought for our very first house back in 1974. The only other thing I will need to clone it is a low-usage lower rack.

And to add to the amazingness

the floor in that pic is the exact Armstrong linoleum "brick" floor we had in that 1974 house! We put that same pattern in 2 subsequent houses, in "Solarium Shinyl Vinyl" version, a pattern that was alleged to be Armstrong's most popular ever. Now discontinued, sadly.

OH MY GOD. Unless my Mom has changed out the family homestead (don't get me started on what she did to the Mid-50's bathroom...Homedepot HELL), That's the washer that has stood in the kitchen ever since I can remember. SAME COLOUR, everything.

Rack around the kitchen

Roger,

The racks for the early machines are so few and far between as we are all well aware, but I think you will be very satisfied using a lower rack from any 18 thru 23 machine in your 17. It will rack the dishes differently, but I think you might find that you can get more into it and still have good results in the upper rack. You should have no problem with clearing the top rack with your dishes. I actually sold someone a top rack from a 21 for use in his 17 and it went right in and is working fine so far. The china guard and washarm were removed from it and you would swear it was the same as the original rack.

The "newer" racks should be more readily available and maybe one of the other members are close enough to you to let you try one on for size!

KA DW RACKS FOR 10s-17s

I have quite a few racks available for these earlier machines, as well as all the newer DWs up to current models. We usually charge about $50 per rack, Sometimes a little more or less depending on condition.

Being one of the wealthiest towns in Maine, just outside Portland, I would be willing to bet the stove and fridge are both TOL models too. But way too far away from me, about 2 1/2 hours and I really dont want to go back to coppertone again.

oh bummer!

I was hoping you could get it... then maybe in a few years when you're downsizing again sell it to me! LOL

Thanks for the info Steve, sounds like worth trying. So the 18-21 racks fit in the space dimensionally and will roll the same?

John I have a lower rack, but the upper one is like new.. the lower one was switched out I think, it's usable but somewhat worn. I don't particularly care whether its a 17 series or later series, as long as it works and looks like new so it matches the like-new condition of the upper rack.

Lower KA DW Racks for 15-17 DWs

The later lower racks from 18-23s will fit, but don't work well as the large dinner plates need to go down the middle to fit under the arch of the center of the upper rack. If you have fairly small dinner plates it may work.
