I have an Americana by GE Dishwasher.  They are very basic and it cleans OK but not nearly as well as my Kenmore's I have had in the past.  I saw this one listed here on CL.  I am thinking about contacting the seller to see if they would sell it apart from the rest of the kitchen.  My question is, has anyone had one or do they know how well it works, hopefully much quieter than my Americana?  Reliability?  Any advice appreciated!

My grandparents have that dishwasher. It's pretty capable and doesn't require any pre-rinsing, but the top rack doesn't have a dedicated spray arm. All in all a good buy.

I had that same model dishwasher (I believe) back in the late 1990s. I'm not sure how long GE made them but it could be a lot more than "3-4 years old".

One of the Best

I have used this dishwasher, in two condos, Peter has one and I installed one at my mom's. My mom has Alzheimer's and she would refuse to leave the dishwasher running. We replaced her Maytag with a GE Nautiless and its so quiet she can't hear it. If you open the door during the cycle, is keeps beeping until you close the latch. So one, its a great dishwasher, two its very quiet and three if it gets interupted it beeps until the cycle is resumed.

I never heard back from the seller.  But I noticed sears still sells these for around 350.00  I hate the fact that the Americana doesn't clean the top rack very well.  I was hoping this one would be engineered better for cleaning.

GE standard tub Nautilus DW

These were pretty good DWs but still not as good as the standard tub KM Ultra-Wash or WP Power-Clean machines for overall performance or reliability. I would look for a good used one of these, Sears just stopped selling their version of this machine late last year, you might even get lucky and find a new or returned one.

Age is likely older

This control console looks very similar to a GE Triton that I had in my previous house, that was installed new in 1998. So I'm betting its much older than "3 or 4" years.

Yup,Johns (combo52) is right about the best when it comes to power...You can't beat the Standard Tub Whirlpool Power-clean and the Standard tub Ultra-Wash Kenmore's..They make all dishwasher's that are out look like a joke,it's a shame cause they will be as hard to find as a good old Hobart Kitchenaid one day...
