Evening guys,

Thought I should report this to you in case anybody considers bidding. Some of you may recognise that the seller has stolen one of my pictures off this forum (probably to lure the buyer). Should I report this? The information doesnt sound too convincing either as do the telephone numbers.

James.

He does say in the ad that it is not a photo of his.. however if I were you I would still report it right away. Let him take his own photo.

Report seller to eBay at once. Next place some sort of copyright or nametag across any pictures you care about before posting. Most photo editing software does this easily.

I have many people ripping off photos from my www.dual-reference.ccom... website all the time. Sometimes I'll see 10 or 20 of my photos in various Ebay listings. On my website I ask people who are going to do this to at least give me a photo credit.
Some will, but most just tell me to F-- off if it's on the internet, it's free.

I have considered adding some lines of code to my website that will disconnect the right click key on the viewers mouse so they can't do any copying. But I just take it as a compliment that they chose to use one of my photos.

He won't get any phone calls using a Burnley dialling code for a Burton on Trent number will he? Never mind.

Just my opinion but I would'nt mind in the slightest if it was my picture someone was using for a listing.

Does it really matter ? it's only a photo! most of us have better things to worry about. Just my opinion

Put it this way...

You don't go picking flowers out of someones garden even if they are unprotected and by the footpath? I'm just saying he could have asked that's all. It is my intellectual property afterall. Not making this a rant thread.

James.

"if it's on the internet, it's free"

launderess's profile picture
Sorry but no that isn't the case and is the reason why many stock photographs sites and others have copyrighted their images. They also have staffed up with attorneys and not only can but will drag anyone into court who violates terms of copyright use.

The Internet especially in the early days is more like the wild west with every script kiddie uploading any photograph or similar content they lay eyes on that suits under the theory "it's on the Web so it's free to use", and or "it's only a photograph so stop your whining".

Well someone has to set up, take, crop etc those photographs so people are stealing a person's work. In the case of commercial sites the photographs and or other content are what keep a business or person's butter stuck to their bread.

Stupid fags

Christopher if I ever catch you using the word "fag" or any other hate speech on this website again not only will I ban you from ever posting again, but I will block you from ever seeing this site again.

Got it, now you owe everyone here an apology. I will be watching for that and expecting it!

Yes, but in this case

brianl's profile picture
He clearly meant it in a derogatory way. That and "That's so gay" are said way too often in society. I have to admit it rubbed me the wrong way too when I saw it. Words are a powerful thing and can make or break people.

There was an apology made, so I will accept it as sincere and move on. Now back to our original topic :-)

Me a mind-reader, no...

brianl's profile picture
I think it was quite obvious, hence Robert's response. Anybody reading that could tell it was not cigarette related at all. Can you think of another meaning of the word?

As well he apologized, and I am assuming by his words, they were sincere.

What is so wrong? I am not a mind-reader & sarcasm is not necessary, thank you!

A statement!

I just made a statement, and didnt need your synopsis of it. Thanks! Case closed!!!

Case closed is right!

brianl's profile picture
Maybe you didn't need my synopsis, but it's not up to you to decide whether I get to respond. Maybe my response was not meant for you. Just perhaps it was meant for the group, hence my post on a COMMUNITY FORUM, rather than a private e-mail to you. If you did not want a response to something that you said, then DON'T POST!

We are supposed to be friends on these forums with a common interest; it's a shame you got all upset over such an innocent response. Maybe you should learn some people skills before being so nasty. It's amazing how everyone grows set when they are hiding behind their computer screens a distance away.

Maybe you should get that little green star next to your name first before demanding anything from me! Case closed is right!

Ummm, no.

I just made a statement, and didnt need your synopsis of it. Thanks! Case closed!!!

And your original statement was a synopsis that all of us didn't need actually. Brian is correct, it doesn't take a washer or rocket scientist to figure that out. Cigarettes ***rolls eyes***.

Enough! This thread has run it course.
