Hello,
I'm no expert in old washers and dishwashers and I thought some of you guys may be able to identify my nana's machine for me!
The washer dryer was made in 1985 by Hotpoint (I think she still has the receipt for it somewhere) and it was in the almond colour. On the drawer, it had the Ariel-like logo and "Washer Dryer 800 Plus" written. On the panel, it had the programmes combined with drying times and it had three option buttons (Economy, Half load and I think Super Rinse). It had two knobs for the dryer and washer (pull on, push off) and the old style door lock (no button on the fascia).
Please can you help me; this is one of my favourite ever machines! The washer dryer is very similar to the one in the video.

Hi, it could be a 9900/9901 but they apparently were quite rare! If it was not one of those it could have been a 9934 or one like that if it had super rinse. Did it ever shred clothes? The later ones sometimes did that, hard violent tumbles. That's all I know, it will definitely be a 99 series is that's the washer dryer number. Jacob

I'm sure it is the 9920, but it had Next Generation knobs!

That leaves me just about clueless. No idea when it comes to washer dryers. Matchboxpaul or aquarius1984 will have an idea. Sorry for no knowledge. Jacob

When I was a little boy there was a new generation hotpoint across the road. The owner's had a brochure of the range and i'm positive it had a washer dryer in it. There was only the one and it was pictured with an almond and a white model in keeping with the range. Can't remember anything else about it. I don't remember how the option buttons were but i think I remember it having the chrome door.

Then again, we had a 9934 at the time so I might have gotten confused since i was only 6 at the time!

Hi Finn.

Methinks that your nana had a 9920.

This was the 800rpm washer-dryer offering from Hotpoint and was on sale alongside its 1000rpm offering, in the form of the 9901.

Piccy of the 9920, with details below....

The first washer-dryer from Hotpoint was the very rare 9900 'Combination Washer Dryer De Luxe L.E', from the New Generation series.

The machine on the left is now in Mike King's safe hands...

So it's the 9920 then! Thanks for everyone who helped me, i'm just more of an expert on Zanussi and Electrolux than Hotpoint :)

James.

It was taken by the scrap men! Parts of it may be floating around the Notts area.
