I recently started repair on a friend's dryer that was making a grinding noise. On disassembly I noted a rear drum roller was worn out as well as the felt drum seal. The dryer is a 1975 Frigidaire GM 1-18 automatic dryer green in color. The only model number given on the splash gaurd tag is "DCD".Parts supplier said that wasnt a complete model number. I cant find parts for that number. Anyone know a model number that will work?

if you could supply some more photos of the internals of the dryer and the specific parts you are speaking of.  I have been told there are some maytag felts out there that will work fine as a replacement but I'd need to obtain that specific information for you.  I'm also pretty sure someone has some drum rollers out there.  Lets also let some others chime in to help.   You've come to the right place!

That IS the complete number. Dryer Custom Deluxe. You need a parts store with some OLD paper catalogues, or an old microfiche.

We have a place here in Little Rock, I went for the first time this weekend but noticed that they had an old microfiche machine.  I don't know their parts availability just yet but they have multiple stores throughout Arkansas and Texas.  You might can give them a call, I am sure they would probably ship parts out if they have them or can get them.

I found the rollers just by surfing the net and matching them to a picture. I need the felt rear drum seal because the old one is worn from the rollers being bad and Im afraid if I dont replace it, the drum will rub bare metal eventually.

Its crazy really. I have searched the net and several parts suppliers with the model # DCD and havent been able to come up with any matches, not even on the vintage parts sites. Its like these machines never existed.

Here is the part number for the felt seal that is glued to the rear of the drum with high temp adhesive: 5301133954

I typed the part number into Google and many parts houses seem to have it in stock.

Good Luck, Patrick

Frigidaire sells the rollers to the public in the US, I bought a few of them recently and they were less than $6.45 each. Here in Canada, they don't and the price for the same rollers was something like 46$ each and they couldn't sell me more than one!

I did a quick search and didn't find the link to the Frigidaire parts website (maybe they stopped selling parts directly to the public in the US since last summer?)

Anyway, Google this part number: 5309956509

 and you should find something!

And here's a link to the owner's manual for the similar DCI dryer

Thanks for your help guys. Got it going. 37 years not bad before the first repair. Wish I had replaced the belt while I was doing this though. Anyone have a part #? Thanks again.
