You guys may recall that about a year ago I got a Maytag Bluebell NX wringer washer. I've been using it as a daily driver for several months now and it's been working perfectly.

When I brought it home I made the newbie mistake of putting it down on its side with the wringer power shaft down and it leaked some oil (1/2 cup?). I was told at the time not to worry too much about it as long as I wasn't hearing the transmission, that you needed to pull the transmission to replenish the oil.

It's been bothering me since then, and I'd like to know if oil can be put back down the wringer power shaft -- will it reach the transmission, or does it just leak out the bottom elbow and make a mess?

If this idea is sound, do I put it in the gap between the power shaft and the top plate of the shaft housing? (see Pic)

Also, what is a compatible modern replacement? Hypoid gear oil 80w-90?
