Well, I have been a bit busy with school, hence slow posting. However, I did compile this treat for everyone. I made a wash day style video of the belt drive, Canadian infused, portable. Enjoy!!

I washed a load of darks, pair of jeans, and a few shirts. Check out the end, when I show you how much lint this machine pulled in!

Nice KM portable. A friend of mine had a KM portable in Coppertone, which I got to use several times before she moved, the were great machines.

Compact KM BD Portable Washer

It is always neat to see and hear these working, Good Video Kevin. This washer departed from the usual WP BD design more than any other TL washer they made over the 40 years of BD washer manufacturing. This washer had a unique suspension system and a really good poly-vee belt drive with a spring loaded tensioning pulley to maintain proper belt tension. And of coerce the spin speed was 925 or 860 on the later versions, as compaired to 525-540 for all the other BD washers built. So it was the fastest WP TL washers till the Calypsos came out in 1999.

Kevin it looks like your plastic tub cover is missing, if you don't have it and want one get in touch with me and I will send you one.

I've always figured something was missing from it. I was always curious because I've seen another one with a missing tub cover here in Canada, so I didn't know if it was just a Canadian thing or not. But John, I will give you a call in the next few months to gear something up once school is done. Thanks for the offer!

Thanks for the comments guys!

Hey Kevin, nice machine, congrats!
I love it, the minute I saw it. SOLD!
Can it be had in 220 V single phase?
I'd get one right away.

Why did these portables spin counterclock wise when every other Whirlpool washer spins clockwise?

Hey Bruce!

The reason why the portables spin opposite of their big sisters is because of the way the belt is routed. The belt on the portable snakes a LOT underneath, and raps around the spin clutch/drive much differently than the full size machine.
