Last week, I was on a 5 day driving vacation out East, that included stops in VT, MD and VA before returning home. A shout of Thanks to John Combo52 (also met brother Jeff) and Ted/Stella (Bygted) for their hospitality and fellowship during the trip! I loved the outstanding collections and the wealth of knowledge.

Interestingly, my first stop was at my buddy Dons place in Eastern Vermont ... and was completely un-washer related. While I was there, we decided to explore a few old buildings. This church caught my eye ...

Caught them at the Altar:

Inside there church there were still a lot of historical elements ... but also this BOL Kenmore set that only Gordon could love. Looks like they were ready to say their vows ... maybe on a future trip they can hitch hike South to Charlotte?

Funny and smart is so engaging.

That's the ultimate BOL, main dial and nothing else, and the ultimate BOL for Gordon. Don't think he has this complete, total and utter BOL.

Oh my gosh, I'm going to have to change my M.O.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But no, not even Gordon is keen on that set. If the washer was a belt-drive, then perhaps. I enjoy rescuing down-trodden machines, but these don't speak to me...

A set that only Gordon could love...good grief! :-)

P.S. - there was a couple belt-drive models that looked exactly like these, only difference was a white control knob vs. the black. Sears had a 1981 version in a 24-inch cabinet, and a 1982 version in a 29-inch large capacity guise. There was also a 1980 standard capacity 29-inch model. Any of those would be fun to have just to have the BOLiest that you can get.

I could have sworn......

How can you tell it's a DD? the lid? the margins?

BOLiest

BOLiest, a.k.a. UGLYiest? hehehe

(I shoudln't knock this set - I grew up with a dryer almost identical to this one, except the white plastic was black with white knobs, and the 'blank' panel area had fake woodgrain. I remember playing with the pull down door for hours. The nylon/plastic door cords were quite amusing for a young pup like me. Ah, memories...)

Ben -

Was the dryer you're talking about like the machine directly behind my LK dryer?

If so, there is an eventual post brewing on that machine...

Mickey -

There are several ways really. First, the black control knob, half of which is missing, is strictly a DD era knob. But, had that been missing, the console is screwed to the top with two visible screws, one on each front corner. They didn't use these in the belt-drive models because the console is attached from the back and from underneath instead.

Also, yes, the lid is much bigger all around, especially front to back. The belt-drive models also didn't have the fill-portion, which also highlights temperatures, highlighted in black like this one does, but I may be the only one who'd notice that.
