Picked this up this morning, was locally on eBay.  Bought it to use as a second machine, as it's portable enough to be wheeled away after use!

And there we go! Using it for today's wash, liking it so far, nice and quiet - although the middle of the wood joist kitchen floor doesn't like it very well!

Ooh love it! You keeping it at home?

Hopefully I'll get to see it next time I come over!

Does it just have one of the aqua spa paddles?

Hi Darren, keeping it here as a second machine!  Portable enough to wheel to the sink and connect up etc.  It does indeed have 3 proper wash paddles, you hear the Aquaspa system working too - it will only tumble one way for about 5 esconds and turns the other for longer.

Bosch toploader!

These machines are fascinating! The frontpanel, 3 washpaddles and easy to load drum and dispenser. If I ever had to buy a toploader this would be a choice. This or a Miele.

That is amazing Jon! What strange letter choices for the partial programmes though - could these correspond to timer letters on an older model?

Post# 587689 , Reply# 13   4/7/2012 at 10:01 (4,373 days old) by lavamat_jon (UK)

Hi Finn,

The letters correspond to some European models which had letters for the cycle names... so A is cottons+linens, B is easy care, C is delicates, D wool, then E additional rinse, F soaking etc.

That higher water lever option on my Bosch. My neighbour has a WFF2000 that has it!

What a great washer Jon !
I would die for one here in the US.
How long is your soak cycle...
Is it a breif tumble and pause...
Aquaspa system ?
I hope it works out well for you.

Excellent Purchase

I am liking the machine, how do you like it John? Results as good as a Miele?

@aldspinboy
As far as I am aware, the Aqua spar system is to do with the paddles inside the drum - they hold a lot of water and shower the load as the drum tumbles.

Hi guys, thanks for the posts.  Really put it through its paces yesterday with my weeks laundry (anybody who's been to a wash-in with me knows how much laundry I seem to accumulate in a week lol).

The higher water level option is weird; it will add an extra rinse and uses a lot more water - however it will only do slow interim spins whereas on the standard cycles it will do a fast spin between each rinse.  Can't complain on the wash and rinse results though, 80 minutes for a 40 deg wash and 3/4 rinses isnt bad for a machine of the "economical" age.

Darren - I haven't used the soaking cycle, however the display reads out 130 minutes when you select it.  From what I gather on these Bosch machines it is a deep-level soak with intermittent tumbling.

The Aquaspa system is where the drum uses the paddles to scoop water up from the bottom of the load and shower it over the laundry at the top - encourages more water movement and therefore theoretically means you can wash a load with less water.  Whether or not it actually contributes to washing results I don't know but it certainly brought up my whites really well.  The Aquaspa system also uses different series of drum rotations depending on the cycle... one side of the paddles are rounded the other is angled, so on a cottons cycle it will tumble one way more using the angled side of the paddles (and hence stronger tumbling), whereas on delicate cycles it will tumble more teh other way using the gentler side of the paddles.

Cheers all,

Jon

Does the Aquaspa wash system fill from three directions or is that the newer Aquaspa 3D model?

I wish they sold these in Canada... I could put two of these side by side in the same space as a conventional washer in my laundry room.

Beautiful find - I always liked this Bosch control design on the dishwashers and laundry but never saw a top-load! Bosch of this era are fairly rare out here on the big, wide prairie but I keep my eyes open for a washer.

From what I've read, this appears to be a 7 KG machine, but the drum does look quite small.. (No offense!)

Does anyone know what the capacity of the drum is in liters? (Or cu.ft ?)

Post# 588314 , Reply# 27   4/10/2012 at 05:27 (4,371 days old) by lavamat_jon (UK)

Drum capacity is 5kg or 48litres - standard of a machine from this era. Still large enough to wash 4 bath sheets, 4 hand towels, and a variety of dishclothes and teatowels in one load.

Gansky; this is my favourite Bosch range too. It's also the last bulletproof washer range they had before they switched over to the larger capacity Maxx or Axxis as it was in the US) with the larger capacity but slightly watered down (albeit still good) build quality.

Love the model number prefix - 'WOK'....

Machine looks great Jon!

That collecting bug thing is majorly taking hold, I see :-)
It will bite you harder and harder - just how big is your parents storage unit going to be?

H-axis machines are very strange - you cant see whats going on, but they are very communicative in their own way.
Havent had the opportunity to play with my Philips Slimstar H-axis machine yet - will probably get to see your Bosch, before I get to plumb my own in. lol.

Happy washing on an H-axis.
Paul

The collecting bug is getting bad!  The worst thing about it is that I know my new place has a cellar, so the excuse to my parents is that it will only be in their way for a matter of months.  Although mum still hasnt noticed the additions creeping in slowly!  Fortunately the Bosch is living here as a second machine, although I really would love the matching 1400 spin washer and dryer... just to match, but of course!

It really is mesmerising - you can't see anything at all but it's a very soothing, rhythmic noise!

Take care,

Jon
