I have just seen an ad for a 1957 Frigidaire Filtrator dryer on Kijiji Toronto.

I communicated with the seller but I don't think I'll take it, even if it's free...

She told me it's been unused in the last 2 1/2 years and that it needs to be moved quickly... So if somebody has to get there, here's your chance!

Ooh Phil, I like it.  Too bad no matching washer to go with it.

What did the seller say that is making you pass on it?

Patrick

Nothing (other than I asked if she by any chance had the matching washer and she said no!). So I just don't think I'll make the trip to Toronto to get it... I'd like to have a Filtrator dryer but since I don't have the matching washer... If nobody grabs it, I might try to get it but Toronto is almost 8 hours away from where I live!

You know, Phil, there's also a dehumidifier in that neck of the woods....  You know what I'm talking about....

I honestly don't know why you feel that there should be a matching washer. They were relatively short lived washers with a fragile mechanism and the dryer is 55 years old already. I can understand the distance making you reluctant to go for it, but please don't have an attitude; she did not advertise a pair.

Paul, that's why I told you if you wanted it, I was ready to go there with you and I would have bought the dehumidifier for me instead!

Tom,
If it would be near Montreal, I would have grabbed it! (I say that but I passed on a 25$ 1960 Custom Imperial Filtrator in Montreal a few years ago because it had a bad timer and it didn't come with the matching washer). I had regrets a few weeks later and I contacted the seller and it was sent to scrap... Since then, I bought a 1968 Dryer alone because I knew where there was a similar 1968 washer to match it not too far from my hometown (and I ended getting another dryer at the same time!).

But since it's quite far from where I live, that's why I posted it here!

And for those like me who have storage space limitations (we all do to a certain point), we have to choose what we want most first! Tomorrow, I should get a fridge identical to one I already have but that's something I really want!

An old Frigidaire dehumidifier I saw for sale... I have most GM Frigidaire appliances (some x2, x3, x4...) but I'm still missing a few like a water heater, a dehumidifier, a room air conditioner, a trash compactor... Among them, I'd like to have at least a room air conditioner and a dehumidifier...
