Here's a later model A806 in Springfield Mo. Asking $150.00, but can probably be talked down some for this(per the seller) low mileage machine.

Here's a vintage gas dryer. Looks like a 700 series or earlier machine for $30.00 in the Oklahoma City area. Though the photo isn't very clear it still looks like it's in descent shape. At this price, someone needs to rescue this one. Maybe someone here can clear up just what model this is as well. All of the gas 700 series machines I've seen have a little inspection panel for the pilot light in the lower front panel, which is missing here. So it's likely and older model(or not gas). Any ideas?

If it's still available, are you planning to go all the way to Mo for it, or have it shipped? Regardless, that's dedication.
Regarding the Maytag dryer, the seller claims he's selling it because he no longer has gas available, and yet if it's an electric dryer.....well,... I'm just saying. Is it common for people to be so clueless about what they're selling? |

That is a long drive for an 806. These machines are not super rare like say a 50's 142 or AMP or something super vintage. I would not drive to New York for an 806. If you peruse your comfort radius on C/L you will find something, but you must be patient. Also, spread out and hit up some furniture/appliance shops and flea malls, I'd had success there as well. Since you're willing to drive all that distance, shelling out even $200 for the machine is still a bargain.
I've made huge cross-country treks >12 hrs each way before, but now I make damn sure it's something that really warrants it. If I drove that far for all of my Maytags, geez I'd be so burn out by now I'd never do it again.
Good Luck,
-Tim

I just don't understand sellers sometimes. What's so odd about traveling a bit to pick up a vintage washer? It's not like you can just drive down to the corner appliance store and pick up the long out of production model you've been looking for. Vintage machines turn up where they turn up, and buyers have no control over it. I recall reading a comment from someone here on this blog were a guy flat out refused to sell him the washer he had listed on Craigslist, simply because he was in a different state. As long as the buyer meets your asking price, why should it matter where they're driving in from?
