I have a Whirlpool ThinTwin, DirectDrive, model LTG6234DQO, TWO SPEED MOTOR....
High speed runs fine, its the LOW speed thats the issue, both during the wash or spin part, its like the windup starter is not engaging, it keeps clicking in and out the whole time........only on low speed, high has no issues..... is there something that should be adjusted or not engaging as it should.....what should I check for.....or would be better to replace..... thanks for any input! |

Sounds like an open low speed winding. What you are hearing is the start winding going in and out of the circuit. Bad motor, unusual for a W/P ; I have encountered them more on newer style GE washer motors. |

I was thinking of checking stuff like that Drew.....but I have no schematic as to which wire is which......and what I am checking for.......
it does seem odd to stop working all of a sudden for both directions......but it is winding up, and then when the motor should take off on its own, theres nothing and the winding starts over, clicking on and off..... |

Is there a capacitor involved with that motor? If so, replace it/them. It's the cheapest part of the loop and no diagram needed, just take one wire off at a time and move it to the new part.
There are a lot of different motor layouts but typically if one winding of a start/run pair is open the motor won't start at all, just sit there and growl until it trips on lockrotor current. Better, since I'm shooting in the dark and you can still use HI, someone here almost certainly has the diagram and a better handle on how that specific motor works. |

Its either the motor, a bad timer or don't over look a broken orange wire. The wring diagram should be on the back of the slanted transition panel between the washer and dryer. One of the easy ways to test is to plug in another DD washer motor all 2 Sp DD motors are interchange. It is NOT the start capacitor. |

I am beyond puzzled......
tried another motor, same thing....... ran the meter thru the 2 connectors to check for a break in the Orange wire, test was good.....signal comes thru connected one end of the electric plug to the meter, and the other to the Orange plug at the motor...set for spin, closed the lid...tested OK....signal is comming thru..... but when plugged into power and set to low speed.....the starter kicks in, but when it releases to let the motor go on its own, NOTHING, the starter has to kick in again....over and over.... yet runs on high speed with no issues |
