I saw one of these at Home Depot yesterday but didn't have my camera/phone with me. There was a lot of descriptive information on the inside of the lid I wish I'd gotten a photo of. #ATW4675YQ

Anybody know anything about them?

Interesting

It is not energy star compliant.  Anybody know if this thing will actually have a water fill like a top loader should?

This is the new control panel design from Whirlpool for their low end products. The machine in that link is a Whirlpool World Washer. It has no option for fabric softener rinsing though so I bet you anything that the only rinsing option it offers is that dreaded spray rinse!

fabric softener

Pulsator,
The unit did not have a fabric softener dispenser. I have the predecessor ATW4475VQ and it doesn't either. Of all the low end DD (Admiral, Roper, Estate) I don't recall ever seeing any of them with a dispenser, just a cap at the top of the agitator.

Roper Version (probably identical)

I saw the Roper version of this machine at the local Home Depot. It actually seemed a fairly nice machine. It had a spreckled porcelain tub and a single-piece straight-vaned agitator. It does spray rinses on some rinses and a deep one on others (presumably the heavy duty cycle). The price was $359.00.

I wonder if, with the new design, the machine's rinses are better than the last of the BOL DD machines. If I were shopping for a new washer and couldn't afford a Fisher & Paykel Eco Smart, I would consider one of these. I'd inquire about the rinses, though.

I have some friends that bought a house in November, and got an Admiral top loader from Home Depot. They were moving in, had a back-log of laundry.. and Home Depot had it for 229.00 ( a pre black Friday special) They seem to love it. I do know it fills to the top, not sure how it is on rinses. I was told it is a bit loud, but.. it's in the basement so they don't care.
Time will tell to see how it holds up.

TWO HUNDRED THIRTY DOLLARS? That's what washers cost in 1960. If the thing works at all, we must appreciate what a value that is. $230 today is equivalent to $32 in 1960. History suggests the 1960 machine would last longer, but still......

Pulsator,
I Wondered why the mini stacked DD unit that came with the cabin didn't have a fabric soft dis. Your post cracked the code! It's a spray rinse only, duh! Thanks

WP 24" DD Stacks

combo52's profile picture

Do not have spray rinsing and they never came with a Fabric softener dispenser, one is optional however. The Full size 27" stack is using a spray rinse system and it has a switch for when you are using fabric softener and it comes with a FSD.

A new basic $300-$400 WP automatic washer built today will outlast almost ANY automatic washer built in 1960.

Chromacolor,
I don't think the current model was available in November. Your friends most likely have the DD ATW4475VQ or XQ. $229 was a good price. I got mine for $269 I think, delivered and installed. It does not use a spray rinse, and fills to the top or at least near, however it does have auto-temp, so its not truly hot but hot enough for me.

Combo52,
You are correct Sir! I keep getting my machines mixed up. The little stack does 3 odd spray/fills that seems to be designed to flush suds out of the outter tub prior to deep rinse. I have not had success finding a FS dispenser to fit mine. It has a very large lift-off agravator with built in lint filter at the bottom. Can you suggest one?
