I have been looking at this set for about a year now. They are at a local appliance store. I finally went down today to see what they actually want for them and to take some pictures. I assume these are the last of the Lady Kenmores but not sure. What I like about them is the color (black). John may remember seeing them when he was in town back in January. Anyways, are these a good set? What are they worth? The guy is asking $599 for them. Kind of much I think. Considering that they have been there for at least a year. I might be able to talk him down to $400.

The dryer. Electric. The guy started cleaning the tops off while I was looking at them. Other than being dirty they are in really great shape.

I can tell you one reason Justin that they've been there that long - "they's done got a bit durty", as the natives would say here in the south. Look at the base of the agitator!

The washer is a 1990 model, and was made in late January, 1991. I think the last of the Ladies was 1998-ish.

If they've been there are year, its not because nobody would like them. The machines being dirty doesn't help at all, but they are over-priced. $400 is a big difference from $599, but I think $400 is much more reasonable. Personally I would try to push it closer to $300-something, but it depends how well used the machines are.

Others on here might know better what similar machines have sold for elsewhere. If they come with a warranty or some sort of backing, they might be a decent deal.
Great machines though --- I know that Scott Intuitdude has a pair a few years newer, but largely similar and he seems to really like them.

These would never make the floor of my store due to the age.  The price is waaay too much.  I'd sell an older set (but newer than these) for about $299 with a year warranty.  If you need an electronic set like this, chew him way down.  I can't believe someone would sell something like this for that amount of money and not have the tub cleaned out or anything. Anyway, if you like it, buy it, but not at that price.

I think what is really appealing about them for me is the color. If they were just plain white, I probably wouldn't even think twice about them. I do agree that he is overpriced, and that he should have them at least cleaned. I do know that he has a large amount of washers, dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, and stoves in a large warehouse, but thats no excuse to let them get that dirty. He did say the come with a 90 day warrenty. I doubt I could get him talked down to 300, even 400 is a big step from what he is asking. If he doesn't come down to what I am willing to pay, then I just won't buy them.

Smart man!

I'd say $300 maybe $350 max... but I guess it depends on just how badly you want them.

Tell him they're 20+ years old, and that parts are getting hard to find for them. Also, when you go back, show him 3 $100 bills, and say, "that's my final offer". Money usually talks louder than words!

Hi Justin, Several of the parts for the control systems for these are NLA now and the ones you can still get are VERY expensive. They are a very cool set however and if the control systems do crap out some day it would be possible to change the control panels to electro mechanical controls and keep the beautiful black cabinets. I like the idea of taking up to three $100 dollar bills in and as a possible bargaining point tell him you will take them as is with no warranty and assure him that you will not return them. If he is really any good at what he does he knows that he cannot warranty something that old.

Chris, that looks to be the 27" dryer, that has the lint filter inside the door. I think they've made them since the late 80's.

Expensive

That is a lot of money for a machine whose timer control board is NLA.
