Should have no leaks, no rust and a really smooth transmission. The backlight has to work. For an absolutely "mint" machine (no serious scratches, very little wear) I would pay $750.00 (shipped)

My apologies...

I was seeing a question there "Would I pay $750?"   Sorry.

So what you are saying is you are LOOKING for an 806 and you want it to be NIB, or as near to perfect and flawless as possible, etc for $750?

I'm guess that's what "WTB" means... want to buy???

I believe LA 806 is almond, correct? I have a HA 806 (harvest gold) that I would part with.

Hi Kevin, Thanks for the reply. Indeed by WTB, I meant Want to buy. Yes, you are correct. I would like to buy a near mint LA806. I really don't like the craftsmanship (or lack thereof) that is being built into new machines (with the exception of perhaps Miele and Speed Queen) and I really don't like the new government efficiency standards they are being forced to build to. (I am very much pro environment but can see clearly the difference between being environmentally responsible and just being stupid). So, I figure it's time to buy a descent machine that will last for the rest of my life. The A806 series is about the most rugged and durable machine with enough features that I would be happy with it forever. If I lay in a good set of "spares" (as my British friends call them), I can keep that machine going until they wash my final pair of socks in it. And at $750, it's half the price of one of the new trash offerings that will last about 7 years. So there's my thoughts. You know a lot more about these machines than I do... Am I missing something? Thanks.

Maytag set in Phoenix

Hi Rod, Here is a set in Phoenix, not a 806 but looks to be in pretty good shape.

You can restore a set and usually have about $1000.00 in them. I put about $600.00 into this set I restored for my aunt last year. I was able to save the original paint, otherwise the cost would have been higher. All new bearings, electronic ignition, gas valve, hoses, water valve, belts, service transmission, timers and motors. These will last another 40 years with some basic care.
