I have two questions about my mother's Neptune... I'm by no means an expert on washing machines (yet...). Before the questions, historical perspective...

My mother purchased my Grandmother's house after she died in 2003. Grandma had a Maytag from the 80's, with a suds saver feature. It was hooked up to a DuraTub which stands next to the washer.

My mother purchased a pair of Neptunes a little over a year ago. The DuraTub is still there, but the Neptune's (cheap, blow-molded plastic) discharge hose is just hanging over the edge of the sink--which I don't like. The DuraTub has two hookups: one for the dirty water, one to suck the water back into the machine (if using a suds-saver).

Question number one is: Am I able to cap off the suds-saver hookup (I have no idea how it would be done) on the DuraTub, and then somehow convert the Neptune's discharge hose from the dinky blow-molded plastic hose it came with to a nicer rubber hose, and ultimately have the machine discharge through the DuraTub..?

Mom also had new flooring put down in the laundry room. The washer had to be taken out. The washer and the dryer don't sit next to each other, so we had to order some aftermarket risers for the washer and dryer--not the genuine, one piece 'side-by-side' Maytag riser. When the washer got put back--on the new floor--it became unbalanced. Now when it spins, it not only sounds like it's going to take off or land--it vibrates. When we bought the units, the salesman told us you could set a dime on the unit during its spin, and the dime wouldn't move. Not the case anymore.

Question number two: What is the proper way of balancing one of these things? Do I need to use a level? Is it trial and error--keep adjusting it, and running it on the spin cycle--until I get it right?

Thanks!

Fred

need a level

Hi Fred,

I'm sorry but I don't know anything about that tub setup...someone else here might. You definitely need to use a level for the machine. Screw in the leveling legs as far as they will go, and then take them out only as far as you need them in order to level the machine on all 4 corners.

Hope this helps.

Rich
