Easy Spin Drier washers are just like Hoover and Maytag twin tubs with the exception of more metal and chrome than plastic parts. Where the Maytag and Hoover units used hoses for filling and draining, the Easy washer used chrome taps. Though taps are "prettier" later models by Hoover and such are designed to be compact and stored in a cupboard when not used. IIRC Easy washers while mobile, would be left out somwhere in the kitchen or laundry area. Launderess |

This is in very nice shape for it's age. Windex is usually a poor choice for painted surfaces, but at least they're trying. GregM has an Easy spinner washer, great fun to play with and an excellent performer although spinning is nothing like that from a Hoover or similar portable twinnie. His didn't have the "rinsing cone" which is probably a good thing since those were more a gimmick and hinderance to loading the small spinner basket anyway. The idea was that the faucet would pour water through the opening in the spinner lid into the top of the cone. They claimed water would get all the way down to the bottom of the basket - spraying through the load as it was spinning. |

Well "Fiftiesfan" nabbed the unit, whom ever he/she is, though I believe the person is a member we never hear a peep out of him/her. Notice the seller didn't even mention the puddle of transmission fluid? Wonder if the "spill" was cleaned up and if the unit will be affected by low fluid levels. Launderess |

Not likely. The Easy Spin-drier I have has peed and peed and peed (and now I can't even fathom where it's finding the oil to leak) and still works fine. I need to refill and reseal the transmission, obviously, but it won't halt operation if the levels get lower. The setup is reminiscent of the Kenmore concept, where it seemed to be from the book of "if it's got something wet in it, it's okay." Disclaimer: Not to say that I condone letting your machine run out of oil and then just keep running it indefinitely. Oil is good, and we like it to be full. In the strictly technical sense, however, no, the diminished level will not stop it from operating. And I have yet to hear of an Easy out there that DOESN'T leak oil. |

No, I'm not planning on ignoring the gearbox :-) Yes, especially with the Easys, I've heard that they aren't kidding when they provided the "load line" on either the agitator or the tub, and if you fill above that, water goes into the transmission and displaces oil. Considering how hard it is to guess how much leeway they provided with that line, and differing densities of fabrics, I wonder if it isn't really easy (no pun intended) to fill up the tranny with water. |
