Hi all :)
as the title implies i have somthing to share.
my cousin and her husband bought a candy GOV580C dryer, they like it but, they are selling thier hosue and moving and they havent got any room for the dryer, the dryer is a little under 6 months old and they are giving it to me :)
they used to keep it in a keter shed (which is identical to my wash house) and whan the sun shines on the shed it gets warm, they havent had any trouble with the sensor (my shed gets hot when the sun shines on it so i shouldent have any issues). i know not everyone likes candy but all oppinions are welcome :)
the dryer is vented too btw, i shall get some pictures when i pick it up on the 18th of July :)
Tom :)

Hi Tom,
Is it a sensor dryer? Hoover /Candy's don't like starting up outside their operating temperature when it's too cold. Gias say that a warm jug of water should be placed in the drum for 5-10 mins too fool the sensor before loading.

a hot water bottle may be a better alternative lol :)
i have no trouble with the wash house being cold, as the roof is a dark colour and it atracts heat :)
Andy, your not on MSN by any chance? :)
Tom :)

the dryer has some pretty positive feedback on appliances online's website and the condenser model has very positive feedback, one review i read is making me fee abit worried as the reviewer mentioned the dyer still being in cycle when the door was opend :/

ah ok :)
Dex, i have a feeling that this dryer will take some getting used to as the siemens took alot of getting used to when we first got that, are you on MSN by any chance?
Tom :)

Post# 607320 , Reply# 9   6/30/2012 at 18:58 (4,310 days old) by andyvivo (Essex)

BTW I think they were suggesting hot water so the vapor can move & warm the sensor, Or don't use it when it's cold and use the Siemens instead =)

lol
i read a review for the hoover vesion with the rectangular door, the reviewer said that if you take the filter out and feel around for a button sized disc (its the sensor) and put your hand on it for 10 secs it works lol
Tom :)

See no reason for that not to work, unless you have sausage fingers lol

Just had a look online and it has hanger dry and cupboard dry, what are the differences?
Tom :-)

Based on My Hotpoint - which will probably be different

Hanger Dry leaves the clothes with moisture, which is noticed by the hand on thicker garments, its so that as they are hung up in a cupboard, then some moisture may dry leaving crease free finish, whereas cupboard dry dry's nearly all the moisture out, leaves the items soft, and this moisture can't be felt by the hand.
Good luck with it, but My grans Hoover (Built by Candy) lasted 1+half years and was a pile of junk, drum paddle fell of in less than a month of use, and it made a loud banging noise from day 1. Felt like a tin too.

gaaa!!!your starting to frighten me!!!

Post# 607719 , Reply# 19   7/2/2012 at 17:39 (4,308 days old) by andyvivo (Essex)

I think it's because you can't get the thermostats separately, which is probably 99/100 of the reason why they are changed. Most likely failed due to lack of airflow, too much washing in the drum / filters / clogged condenser etc.
I'm sure in your safe hands it will be fine =)

We have sold lots & lots of Candy Smart & Grando Dryers for years Tom & we have never had one single problem with the heating elements failing or customers coming in ordering replacement heaters.

thats comforing to know Optima :)
what is also comforting to knwo is that 3 people had dryers from a bad batch, one customer complained saying that the drum had shredded the washing and candy sent them a free replacement and took the old one away :)
there are lots of positive reviews for the GOV580V and they look relly cool with the full moon door :)
Tom :)

I think they are much improved since the disasters of the original performa / six series which saw the drums breaking at the rear perforations.

Hi Jared :)
its very very fast, it can dry a full 8KG load on the "bone dry" setting in 60-30 mins and the load will be 100% dry with no damp patches :)
