Nice gold set, a bit ambitious on price, IMHO. I have a similar set in white at my shop, hoping for $150.00.

Maybe Kenny can elaborate further...

But I've heard from several folks on and off the site who are in the appliance business that good used appliances are tough to find.

Testimonial to that I think are the first two Craigslist ads that have been linked in this thread -- they are both offered by a small business of some sort. My hunch says that if that seller could find more plentiful direct drives, Dependable Care machines, etc etc that we wouldn't be seeing these 30+ year old machines being reconditioned for re-sale.

Some of this we owe to the recent economy where people haven't been buying many impulse or "just because I want it" appliance purchases. Some more of the reason though is the big-box stores, and even Sears, insisting that all haul-aways be quarantined and sent to scrap, with no chance of being intercepted by the re-sellers and parts scavengers.

That infuriates me, but the silver lining may be that older machines that would not have otherwise gone on to see more service are being given a second look by the rebuilders and re-sellers. I suppose that's a good thing.

Yeah, it seems most everyone is a scrapper, or a used appliance seller. Harder and harder to find decent units.  Problem is, many people plug them in, and if it works, it's cleaned and sold. Check the belts? Why, it still works. Lube the motor rollers? no need to. Yada yada yada....
