So did the Altorfer Brothers invent the washing action seen in this and the Kelvinator? Does anyone know about the legal agreement by which both produced similar machines for awhile?

Yes, the Altorfer Brothers did invent the concentric action in their machines. ABC sold out to Kelvinator in the mid or so 50's. American Motors owned Kelvinator, so since they bought out ABC, I would think that they could do what they liked?
I have an older ABC wringer machine and it says Peoria, Il. on it for the place of manufacture. I have another ABC wringer machine which is a bit newer and it says ABC on the front of the machine but the tag says, made my Kelvinator, a product of American Motors Detroit, Michigan.
It will be interesting to see if anyone else gives some information on this. Gary

Bill Altorfer told me their engineer John A Castracone invented centric action. And I have the patent buried at home somewhere. Mr Altorfer senior loved this action and decided to bring it on over from the Rinsing Wringer.

When I saw the Shampooer on Dick's Rinser, I thought I was seeing things. Long live that Magic Minute making agitator!

And the " Splash-away, ABC's true Float over rinse." I 'm sure we have vid somewhere of this intense affair when the agitator starts at the end of the over-fill and the water flies like cyclones.

How effective is this washing action compared to standard center post agitators?

The clock feature isn't exactly common.

After Frigidaire's vertical/pulsating agitation, this is my favorite non-traditional wash action. It looks so cool. But how did these machines not rust to pieces with all that water constantly flying around?
