After thinking it was the motor was bad..(had it rebuilt) the real culprit is the fan bearing is shot, which caused the fan belt to stick...evidence on the pulleys uggest that the belt spent most of its time slipping in one place...after lubing the fan without taking it apart, it ran for 5 min then would stick, so I took it apart and this is what is there

My parents had a 1962 westinghouse that used to have this problem.I used to take it apart and lube the fan with my father. |

Our Westy, the fan was on the motor shaft. It needed lint removed from between inner and outer drum now and then, and one drum support assembly (roller and bearing, left side) but nothing else ever went wrong with it.
I grew up in a Westing-house but I never saw a 'program computer' Westy in real life. Didn't catch on, too far ahead of its time I spoze. |
