Nice-looking harvest gold Dispensall model, circa 1977-1979.

Question.........

bosch2460's profile picture
My aunt had a Dispensall purchased in the mid to late 70's. Hers was white........but hers had a few different things compared to this one. First thing is that she had a lit control panel, second her Filter Flo pan was not that largeand it was blue, then the Mini Quick switch was a toggle switch.....it didnt look like a light switch. The agitator is different too; It was blue and I am not so sure if it didnt have 5 vanes and at the top of the agitator, above the vanes it had "lines" sort of like the mid to late 80's Filter Flo had. It wasnt so flat... and said Activator Agitator on the top. :) But everything else is the same... Why would hers be so different? Was the panel light for the very TOL? Maybe an earlier orlater model? I am just wondering if anyone can shed some light on the for me. Either way, that is still one fine machine.

Joel

Well I was wondering when...

geextrarinse's profile picture
someone would find this - I was just sitting here relaxing before going out and was like, hmmmmm - I'll look on ebay for fun things and then I nearly died when I saw the glorious words GE DISPENSALL - he has great pics and everything! I'm going to try very hard to get this - I hope it doesn't go up like Gregs Kelvinator did but I know alot of people aren't that into GE as say the older more rare machines, and his was great. My fingers are crossed - please cross yours for me too! This would be a lifetime achievement foor me! - he's only abot 2 1/2 hrs froom my house - I can pick it up easily!

PRAYING!
Matthew

This has honestly been the machine i've wanted all my life - the only other one is a 1964 filter flo like my grandma's. Anything's possible!

But thanks for thinking of me!

Matt

So sad for Matt :(

If I'm reading Ebay correctly, some dude named Jeff swooped in at the last 30 seconds and snatched it up...

Bummer. I was rootin' for ya, Matt.

How ironic...this was the same a**hole, er, person that was bidding against Greg for the Maytag pushbutton DW, and who hasn't bought anything since 2004. Something's a little suspicious here...

Who is this guy?

carhardttdude?

I emailed him a very sincere email asking him to offer a price but i HATE those last minute bidders - does anyone know who this is - is he a member of this club?

I'm at my parents and they have dial up so i couldn't get a counter bid in - I'm so upset - I'm just sitting here in tears...

Am Very Sorry!

Sadly GE it seems last minute bidding is the only way to win anything worth wild on eBay these days.

If one really wants something, better to wait until the last minute and bid everything but one's first born.

The other option is to bid early with the highest possible amount you can afford, thus when a sniper comes at the last minute he/she will be outbid automatically by eBay's system providing his highest bid is lower than yours.

Say your highest bid was $400 and this sniper only bid $152 or $160, you sill would have won because eBay's system would automatically bid for you until either the auction ended and you won, or someone met and out bid your higest amount.

Again it seems these days bidding early leaves one as a sitting duck, especially if one does not monitor the final few minutes when most of the action takes place.

As for emailing the seller and asking him to offer a price, IIRC eBay forbids such actions. Some sellers will cancel an auction and relist with a "Buy It Now" price, but eBay has rules about under what conditions an auction can be outright cancelled. Of course the seller could disregard those rules, but he/she risks not only loosing listing fees, but being chucked off eBay as well.

Oh well, what's done is done, don't worry another will come sooner or later! Smile!

Or, we can round up some of the boys and go break some knee caps! *LOL*

Sorry to learn that you didn't get this GE Matt. These machines are not rare,so I am sure you will find another. Maybe a fantastic find in that old appliance store! (:

Now you just build you up

a little freight fund; when I see one of those, I'll snatch it up and save it for you. I haven't seen a lot of them, awhile back one of my Aunts had one, I don't know that it
was dispensall functional, but they are out there and you'll get one!

I believe that things happen for a reason and who knows - this one came along - there hopefully will be more!

I thank you for all rooting for me and being nice enough to let me try and get it though others wanted it. I will continue to ask people to keep their eyes peeled for one of these. Honestly - Its the only machine I really want.

I emailed the seller and asked him to keep me posted if this guys flakes - he even said he was sorry and was hoping i got it. Who knows maybe still...

anyway - I'll just keep looking and seewhat else comes along.

Thanks everyone!
Matthew

Matthew,

I'm not sure which aspect of the Dispensall attracted you, but here's another listing that has just appeared for a similar unit - even has the mini-wash feature!

This is a nice machine but rather far - i can get a filter flo around here in PA but it is the dispenser and that special lid as well as the special recirculating flume that is elongated to accomodate the dispenser unit - this is why i want the Dispensall. Not to mention the memories of countless hours of joy and excitement i had when i was a child playing with my neigbors Dispensall. It really is the only one I would spend money on as well as ship to my house. So I thak you for thinking of me - but if you see a Dispensall, PLEASE - either let me know or pick it up for me and we'll arrange for payment and shipping. Thanks!

Matthew

Matthew, I will check in my area for you. I also know someone that owns an appliance store. Afterall, us PA guys have to stick together. I was born in Wilkes-Barre. Lived in Plymouth on Highway 11. Moved to NJ when I was around 3 years old. I hear you are a friend of Toggleswitch. I am also. It would be great to meet you.
